Friendship Public Charter School operates a thriving network of college preparatory public charter schools. Headquartered in Washington, DC. Friendship serves over 4,800 students in preschool to grade 12 and guides a growing network of alumni to college completion annually.Nearly 70% of students are deemed “at-risk” due to family poverty, homelessness or other complex risk factors and 100% of studentsare deemed eligible for free and reduced lunch due to community poverty. 98% are African American or Latino. The mission of Friendship Public Charter School (FPCS) is to prepare students to become ethical, literate, well-rounded and self-sufficient citizens by providing a world-class education that motivates students to reach high academic standards, to enjoy learning, to achieve success, and to contribute actively to their communitiesThe Extended Day Site Coordinator should embody Friendship’s core values and will demonstrate the ability to lead and coach program staff to accomplish established objectives. This position requires excellent relationship-building and collaboration skills, superb organizational skills and attention to detail, the ability to juggle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, and a commitment to the mission and culture of Friendship Public Charter School.The Site Coordinator oversees the daily coordination of the after-care program at their assigned school site, including daily upkeep of the attendance database system, monitoring program flow and structure, maintaining school-based relationships with administrators and teachers, and assisting the Regional Coordinator with the management and training of the frontline staff that instruct daily programs, oversee classroom management, and implement lesson plans to keep students engaged.*Please note this role pays $55,000 to $75,000 and the hours are 10 am - 6 pmProvides day-to-day oversight of program and after-care staffProvides a caring, nurturing and inviting environment responsive to the physical, emotional and social needs of the studentsActively engages in activities with the childrenReport student achievement in measurable growthBe able to implement Friendship content standards during daily activities;Communicates effectively with parents and teachers about student behavior/ needs, schedule changes, and program rules;Organizes and order necessary suppliesMonitors program performance and recommends modificationsSelects, supervises, trains, and evaluates after-care Group Leaders and Asst. Group LeadersFacilitates PD, as necessaryLeads weekly staff meetingsObserves necessary precautions to ensure safety of program participants and maintains a clean environmentMaintains confidentiality of sensitive financial and personal information;Maintains daily data input for attendance using Powerschool and ensure that student records and payment data are maintained accurately in EZ Child Track.Prepares incident reports and notifies parents and administration when notable incidents occurAssists in housekeeping activities as neededWorks together with the Office of Extended Learning management team to help resolve issuesPerforms other duties as assigned with approval of overseeing person or bodyEducation & Experience: Have earned a bachelor’s or more advanced degree from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, with a major in education, child and positive youth development, or early special education; orHave earned a bachelor’s or more advanced degree from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, and have at least one (1) year of supervised occupational experience working with school age children under the age of fifteen (15) years in a duly authorized schools or camp, a licensed Child Development Center, or the equivalent.Experience as a 'Lead Teacher' in a traditional grade school settingKnowledge & Skills:Knowledge of child development and early childhood education;Proven experience maintaining clear boundaries and setting age- appropriate discipline standards for children using non- punitive measuresExcellent organizational skillsExcellent communication skillsEnthusiasm for working with childrenExcellent customer service skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced and high needs environmentProven ability to work in a collaborative team environment and enforce rules consistentlyProven ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when dealing with challenging situationsProven ability to work with staff and families from diverse backgroundsRequired Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:Must pass Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal background check;First Aid and CPR certificationEffective November 1, 2021, all adult employees, contractors, interns, and volunteers working in person in a public, public charter, independent, private, or parochial school in the District of Columbia, and all adult employees, contractors, interns, and volunteers working in person in a child care facility regulated by the Office of the State Superintendent of Education, shall have received a full course of a vaccination against COVID-19 unless they have been granted an exemption from such vaccination pursuant to, and are compliant with the requirements of, Section IV of this Order.”FPCS’s policy is to provide equal employment opportunity to all qualified applicants and employees regardless of their race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, genetic information, veteran status, status as a special disabled veteran, or any other protected criteria as established by federal, state, or local laws.
