Position SummaryThe Records Clerk performs a wide variety of administrative and clerical duties in support of the Faribault County Recorder's Office. This position is responsible for accurate data entry, document processing, customer service, and maintaining official public records in compliance with Minnesota statutes. The work requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy public-facing office environment. This is a 37.5 hour-week position located in the AFSCME union.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDuties include, but are not limited to:Perform general administrative tasks including typing, data entry, answering and directing phone calls, managing emails, scheduling appointments, and maintaining spreadsheets.Conduct research of property, marriage, birth, and death records using database systems, book indexes, and recorded terpret plat maps and land surveys; draft metes and bounds descriptions; and utilize mapping software to ensure accuracy of property descriptions.Process incoming documents such as recorded documents, state tax liens, military discharge requests, and document requests by verifying recordability, calculating applicable fees, and routing appropriately.Certify and record marriage licenses, certificates, notary documents, ministerial credentials, and other statutory records.Run end-of-day reports and reconcile daily receipts.Provide professional customer service by assisting the public with document requests and directing customers to appropriate county departments or external agencies.Maintain confidentiality and comply with the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act (Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 13).Perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation & ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED required.One (1) year of relevant clerical or office experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Post-secondary training in a related field is desirable.Requirements & SkillsValid Minnesota driver's license.Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and other office software.Strong customer service and communication skills.Knowledge of general office procedures and recordkeeping principles.Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a busy environment.Physical Demands & Working ConditionsRegularly communicates in person, by phone, and in writing.Frequently operates standard office equipment.Occasionally lifts or moves items up to 25 pounds.Primarily office-based with infrequent travel.How to ApplyApplications will be accepted through December 30, 2025.Equal Opportunity EmployerThis employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
