Reports To: CEO and with limited report to Head of Compliance & RiskLocation: RemoteJob SummaryThe Human Resource manager is responsible for overseeing the full employee lifecycle, from talent acquisition and performance management to employee relations, benefits, and compliance. This role ensures fair and consistent HR practices, fosters a positive workplace culture, and manages HR operations, payroll, and insurance programs. The Talent manager's primary function is to align HR strategy with business goals to support long-term growth.Talent acquisition and workforce planningThe Manager will serve as a partner to senior leadership in building and sustaining a workforce that upholds the highest standards of professionalism, safety, and regulatoryCompliance. To this end, they:Recruit, interview and hire headquarters staffSupervise recruitment efforts of line-level employees, including:Ensuring that adequate measures are in place to meet operational recruiting requirementsProcessing and evaluating background checksOnboarding newly hired employees, including coordinating orientation, distributing and collecting signed copies of the Employee Handbook, and explaining key company policies and regulatory requirementsWhen applicable, ensure that newly recruited employees receive required and/or legally mandated trainingOversee all performance management efforts, including regular performance evaluations, performance improvement plans, and promotion eligibilityLead discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy, applicable labor law and licensing requirements.Maintain, monitor and manage workforce statistics including speed of recruitment, retention, absenteeism and turnover.Employee relationsServe as the primary advisor and escalation point for complex employee relations issues, ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant resolution.Develop, implement, and oversee policies and practices that foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful workplace culture.Partner with managers and leadership to proactively address performance, conduct, and workplace behavior concerns.Lead investigations into employee complaints, grievances, or allegations of misconduct, documenting findings and recommending appropriate actions.Provide guidance and training to managers on conflict resolution, communication, and employee engagement strategies.Monitor workplace climate through employee feedback, engagement surveys, and exit interviews to identify trends and recommend improvements.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor and employment laws in all employee relations matters.HR operations and technologyThe Manager ensures that the correct systems and software are in place to manage the company's human resources and recruiting efforts, and that the same are used appropriately and consistently.Manage and maintain up-to-date the company's HRISSelect, manage and maintain the company's ATSEnsure that payroll is processed promptly and accurately, and that any errors are identified, corrected, and communicated to senior management immediatelyBenefits and insuranceThe Manager ensures that eligible employees have access to high quality, cost-effective benefits, and that the company maintains and manages appropriate levels of insurance coverage.Lead annual open enrollment process, including selecting benefits, communicating with employees, and collecting benefit elections and waivers, and transmitting the same to the relevant benefits carriersIdentify employees who are newly eligible for benefits, communicating their options to them, collecting benefit elections and waivers, and transmitting the same to the relevant benefits carriersIn coordination with Head of Compliance and Risk, lead selection and management of EPLI, WC and any other insurance needed to protect the company from HR-related liabilitiesTake appropriate measures to minimize the cost of HR insurance policies, including developing and deploying policies to mitigate risk, and ensuring that information communicated to insurance carriers is accurate and does not unduly exaggerate the risks associated with insuring the companyHR complianceThe Manager ensures that the company complies with applicable law in all its employment practices, that its employees are aware of their obligations and responsibilities under the same, and that employees subject to industry-specific regulatory requirements are aware of and comply with them at all times.Ensure that the company's Employee Handbook reflects the Company's current policies; complies with all applicable laws in all geographies in which the Company operates; that the Handbook is regularly updated to reflect changes to these laws and regulations; that all employees in the Company are aware of the Company's current policies; and that each employee's personnel file includes a signed copy of the most up-to-date version of the Handbook.Ensure that all managers understand and adhere to HR best practicesEnsure that any and all legally mandated trainings (e.g. Title IX, state-specific cannabis laws, firearm qualifications) are conducted on time and in accordance with the company's legal obligationsEnsure strict adherence to Department of Health and cannabis regulatory agency requirements, including employee credentialing, background checks, and reporting coordination with the Head of Compliance and Risk:Ensure that all employees are aware of and comply with applicable safety regulations and protocols, and cannabis, security, and financial laws and regulations.Ensure audit preparedness and training effectiveness metrics.Cannabis, security and banking industry-specific responsibilitiesAs the company operates in various highly-regulated industries, the Manager takes all appropriate measures to mitigate those of the company's risks potentially generated by its personnel.Ensure all relevant employees maintain active and valid cannabis agent identification cards, transportation permits, and other required credentials as dictated by state cannabis regulators.Ensure completion of fingerprinting, criminal background checks, and employment eligibility verification in accordance with state law.Maintains confidential personnel records documenting regulatory licensure, renewals and compliance training.Develop processes to track and monitor expiration dates for security clearances, agent IDs, drivers licenses, and required certifications to ensure uninterrupted eligibility for operational staff.Partner with the compliance and risk department to respond to regulatory audits, inspections, and reporting requirements related to personnel.Provide regular training and communication to employees regarding state cannabis regulations, transport security obligations, and code of conduct requirements.Monitors alerts for changes in employee MVR and background criminal checksPerform other duties, as assignedJob Type: Full-timePay: $55,000.00 per yearBenefits:401(k)Dental insuranceHealth insurancePaid time offVision insuranceWork Location: Remote
