Job Details Job Location: Ganado, AZ 86505 Position Type: Full Time Education Level: 2 Year Degree Job Shift: Day Job Category: Human ResourcesPosition Summary:The Payroll Specialist is responsible for bi-weekly payroll processing at Sage Memorial Hospital (SMH). Accurate and timely processing, documenting, and disbursing of hourly and salary payroll, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations. Prepare and maintain payroll records and documentation.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Process bi-weekly payroll for SMH accurately and timely. Review, audit, reconcile, and correct/update payroll before transmission to ensure proper pay calculation. Ensure accurate general ledgers are processed completely, accurately, and in compliance with company policy, federal, state, and local regulations. Work with department supervisors and managers on a bi-weekly basis to complete timecards accurately and on time. Enter payroll data, maintain accurate records of payroll transactions, and ensure that all employee information is up to date, including salary changes and deductions. Calculate wages, overtime, and retroactive payments. Must stay informed about federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance. Submit payroll taxes and other government-mandated reports accurately and on time. Research and resolve discrepancies related to time, attendance, and payroll. Maintain necessary payroll reports and provide payroll journal entries following each payroll. Ensure all payroll liabilities and garnishments are entered and paid timely. Report and upload payments to retirement benefit plans. Ensure retirement plan payments are paid on time for all employees. Collaborate with human resources to ensure accurate processing of payroll. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers. Preparation of W-2 or address any questions and concerns. Reconcile, collect, calculate, and enter data related to benefits, federal and state taxes, including FICA taxes. Process off-cycle payroll as necessary. Manually calculate payroll if necessary. Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues and concerns. Maintain confidentiality of all financial and payroll data and information. Assist and prepare reports for management with internal and external audits. Performs other duties as assigned.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:Associate degree in business or related field required and Must have three (3) years of direct payroll experience. Must be able to pass the Employee Health Program requirements and background investigation successfully.Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications:Experience with processing payroll for hourly and salaried employees. Knowledge of benefit plans and calculation of differentials, overtime, deductions, bonuses, etc. Accounting experience. Ability to generate payroll journal entries to post to the general ledger. Proficient in using MS Office. Provide excellent customer service. Work with others professionally.Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use arms and hands to reach and grasp objects; and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.Work Environment:Work is generally performed in an office with a moderate noise level. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
