Job Description

The Community Support Associate (CSA) provides direct, day-to-day support to residents in a treatment setting. This role focuses on helping clients develop life skills, maintain safety and structure, and engage positively in treatment, community activities, and daily routines. The CSA works collaboratively with clinical staff to promote recovery, stability, and personal growth.Key ResponsibilitiesResident Support & EngagementProvide consistent supervision, guidance, and emotional support to clientsBuild positive, professional relationships that promote trust and accountabilityAssist clients with daily living activities, routines, and personal goalsEncourage participation in treatment groups, educational sessions, and recreational activitiesProgram & Community SupportSupport the implementation of treatment plans as directed by clinical staffFacilitate or assist with structured activities, groups, and community outingsModel appropriate behavior, communication, and coping skillsHelp maintain a structured, therapeutic, and respectful environmentSafety & Crisis ManagementMonitor client behavior to ensure safety and compliance with program rulesRespond appropriately to crises, conflicts, or behavioral concerns using de-escalation techniquesFollow all safety protocols, emergency procedures, and reporting requirementsDocumentation & CommunicationAccurately document observations, incidents, and resident progressCommunicate effectively with supervisors, clinicians, and team membersParticipate in staff meetings, trainings, and shift handoffsAdministrative & Facility DutiesAssist with medication supervision as permitted by policy and trainingMaintain cleanliness and organization of shared living spacesTransport clients to appointments or activities when required (if applicable)QualificationsRequiredHigh school diploma or GEDAbility to work with individuals experiencing mental health challenges, substance use disorders, or behavioral concernsStrong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skillsAbility to remain calm, professional, and supportive in high-stress situationsAvailability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts as neededPreferredPrevious experience in residential treatment, behavioral health, or social servicesCPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)Physical & Work RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periodsAbility to lift or assist up to 50 as neededComfortable working in a 24/7 residential care environmentCore CompetenciesEmpathy and professionalismTeam collaborationCultural sensitivity and inclusivityReliability and accountability
