Automotive Dealership Service ManagerJob DescriptionPosition SummaryThe Service Manager is responsible for leading the service department's operations to ensure exceptional customer satisfaction, efficient workflow, profitability, and compliance with dealership and manufacturer standards. This role oversees service advisors, technicians, warranty administration, and service operations while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and performance.Key ResponsibilitiesDepartment Leadership & OperationsDirect and manage all daily service department activitiesHire, train, coach, and evaluate service advisors, technicians, and support staffEstablish clear performance expectations and accountabilityEnsure proper staffing levels and effective schedulingCustomer ExperienceEnsure a consistently high level of customer satisfaction and retentionResolve customer complaints and service concerns promptly and professionallyMonitor CSI scores and implement improvement strategiesMaintain a customer-first service cultureFinancial & Performance ManagementMeet or exceed departmental revenue, gross profit, and expense targetsMonitor labor sales, parts sales, effective labor rate (ELR), and productivityControl costs and maximize profitability without sacrificing qualityReview financial statements and service KPIs regularlyWorkflow & EfficiencyOversee repair order flow to ensure timely vehicle repairs and minimal delaysImprove technician productivity and shop efficiencyEnsure accurate repair documentation and quality control checksCoordinate with parts department to ensure parts availabilityWarranty & ComplianceEnsure proper warranty claim processing and documentationMaintain compliance with OEM requirements and dealership policiesEnsure adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory standardsFacility & Equipment ManagementMaintain service department tools, equipment, and cleanlinessEnsure a safe and organized work environmentOversee equipment maintenance and calibrationWork EnvironmentAutomotive dealership service departmentExtended hours, including some evenings or SaturdaysFrequent interaction with customers, technicians, and management
