General SummaryThe DOT Mechanic is responsible for performing inspections, maintenance and repairs specifically on vehicles regulated under DOT.Essential Job AccountabilitiesPerform maintenance and inspections on vehicles regulated under the DOTService trucks and equipment to meet DOT requirementsTroubleshoot and repair various electrical assembliesRebuild replace or repair drill rigs parts and ancillary equipmentLocate and requisition parts for repairsUnderstand and implement laws and regulations on transportation and safetyKeep shop, equipment and tools in safe operating conditionMaintain accurate information for payroll reportingRegional travel around South Louisiana and Mississippi; home nightly.EducationHigh School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experienceCertificationMust have a valid driver's license class B driver and any endorsements are a plus. Diesel or Automotive Technology certification or equivalent experienceForklift, crane and welding certifications a plus.Work ExperienceMinimum 1 year of experience with DOT or FMCSA regulationsMinimum 1 year diesel experienceKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge and proficiency with DOT inspection standardsTraining or experience in maintaining and inspecting commercial motor vehicles.Ability to work irregular hours and respond to after hours emergency calls as neededPrevious drilling experience and knowledge of work industry a plusStrong organizations skillsAdditional Requirements/SkillsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate a small hand tools.The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms.The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and crane lift and/or move over 50 lbs.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
