Title: Plumbing Engineer / Designer (Design-Build Focus)Location: San Jose, CAEmployment Type: Full-TimeAbout the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled Plumbing Engineer / Designer to join a fast-growing commercial construction team. This is a design-first role, with estimating as a secondary skill. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience producing plumbing design-build documents, working in a collaborative design-assist environment, and managing complex commercial projects from concept to permit-ready drawings.You will work on large-scale commercial projects including labs, kitchens, and other high-profile facilities. Your expertise will directly influence project design, constructability, and budgeting.Key ResponsibilitiesProduce complete plumbing design-build documentation: layouts, risers, details, and system narrativesSupport design-assist and preconstruction phases, including coordination with architects, engineers, and other tradesAssist estimating efforts: quantity takeoffs, scope development, and ROM pricingApply value engineering principles to optimize cost, labor, and constructabilityPrepare permit-ready drawings, plan check responses, and RFI follow-upsTake ownership of projects immediately, working independently and collaboratively with the teamRequired QualificationsStrong commercial plumbing engineering and design experienceProficient in AutoCAD and Revit (BIM experience a plus)Experience in a design-build environmentKnowledge of California Plumbing Code (CPC)Solid project portfolio demonstrating design-build experienceProven ability to jump into ongoing projects and contribute immediatelyStrong coordination and communication skills with other trades and stakeholdersStable work history with a focus on growth and career developmentPreferred QualificationsExperience with estimating software for takeoffs, scope, and budgetingFamiliarity with value engineering in design-build projectsSalary: $120,000 - $160,000 DOEBenefits: Competitive benefits package
