A community services organization in New York City is looking to add a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant(COTA) to join their growing team at one of their group homes on Staten Island.About the Opportunity:Setting: Article 16 Clinic / Group HomesSchedule: Monday to FridayHours: 9am to 5pm or 8am to 4pmPatient Population: Adults (Ages 18+)EMR:PrecisionCareResponsibilities:The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant(COTA) will:Review medical records, verify MDs orders and the Occupational therapists assessment prior to implementing OT treatmentCommunicatewith supervisor regarding persons receiving services in the areas of cognitive/perceptual skills, sensor-motor, musculoskeletal status, CNS status, the use of assistive technology and adaptive equipment needsIntegrateinput from persons receiving services, family, and direct care staff in treatmentWritespecific, objective, and measurable documentation,Providetraining to persons receiving services, families and/or direct care staff in specific supportive programsParticipateand attendcare plan/team meetings as needed for persons receiving OT servicesImplementa treatment plan, generated by the OT, includingROM, therapeutic exercise, cognitive/perceptual re-training, ADL, wheelchair mobility, pre-vocational skills, and application of physical agent modalities: hot packs, cold packs, and paraffinPerform other duties, as neededQualifications:Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy schoolNYS Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant(COTA) licenseDesired Skills:Experience with Wheelchair assessmentExperience working with people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
