Spoke & Bird is a WBE-owned, locally focused café, bakery, and sandwich deli. We build our menus around seasonal ingredients from regional farmers and vendors, and we make pretty much everything in-house. Small team, high standards, no drama. We’re looking to add a solid human to our Pilsen & South Loop kitchens —someone who can hold their own on the line, prep with intention, and build sandwiches that make people quietly nod in approval. What You’ll Be Doing Cooking, prepping, and assembling sandwiches with consistency and care Working both independently and as part of a tight-knit team Keeping a clean, organized station (this is an open kitchen—people can see you, and yes, it matters) Engaging with guests from time to time like a normal, pleasant person Supporting a menu that changes with the seasons and highlights local ingredients What We’re Looking For At least 1 year of kitchen experience Strong work ethic, good instincts, and a sense of teamwork Attention to detail (recipes, cleanliness, timing—all of it) Weekend availability (non-negotiable) AM and/or PM availability Someone who takes food seriously but doesn’t take themselves too seriously Schedule & Pay Hourly: $19–$22, based on experience Full-time and part-time roles available Growth opportunities as we continue to expand Benefits & Perks Health insurance Commuter benefits Potential bonuses Dining discounts (yes, the good stuff) Wellness program How to Apply We like people who read directions.
