Job Description

The Event & Host Manager is responsible for booking events & ensuring the process from start to end is executed correctly. They organize the flow of reservations and walkins and are the first impression of the Mulberry to all guests. They also support the General Manager by completing tasks as directed.  About The Mulberry Open since November 2025 in the heart of Sawtelle, The Mulberry is a modern Korean American restaurant reimagining the neighborhood bistro. Our opening team brings deep culinary pedigree from Benu, Marea, Daniel, French Laundry, abc Jean-Georges, 53 at MoMA, and the world of Anthony Bourdain. Our menu blends Korean heritage with precise technique and seasonal California ingredients, emphasizing fermentation, fire, and flavor. Dishes are playful yet grounded, honoring tradition while offering bold new interpretations of Korean American comfort food. The dining room, designed in collaboration with Matt Winter, evokes swanky elegance and warm hospitality. Guests can expect a full bar, a curated wine list, and a standout pastry program. This is a rare opportunity to join one of LA’s most anticipated openings from the ground up. Job Duties: Providing a friendly and hospitable first impression to all guests. Warmly greet every guest that walks in the door and say goodbye to everyone that leaves. Acknowledging and learning names of regulars, our neighbors and friends of the restaurant. Thoroughly understanding the grid and able to effectively take reservations, fit in walk-ins, re-grid based on flow, recognize and accommodate friends of the restaurant, and maintain friendliness and positivity through all your encounters. Answering the telephone courteously and promptly, and knowing how to guide guests to find the answer/person they need. Able to thoughtfully describe all menu items and be aware of available modifications and possible allergens in each dish, and using this knowledge to provide suggestions to guests.  Have a working knowledge of wine in general and be able to concisely and accurately describe all wines by the glass as well as beer and other non-alcoholic beverages. Proactively identify and pursue sales opportunities for private events, including weddings, corporate gatherings, social celebrations, and more. Develop and execute strategies to achieve sales targets and expand the client base. Responsible for the preparation of arrangements with clients for functions that are booked in person, via the telephone, or through correspondence. Build strong relationships with clients, understanding their vision, preferences, and budgetary considerations. Provide personalized guidance and recommendations to ensure their event exceeds expectations. Prepare detailed proposals and contracts tailored to each client’s needs. Negotiate terms and pricing to maximize revenue while maintaining client satisfaction and profitability. Work with the General Manager to generate new business and maintaining contact with current accounts. Responsible for ensuring that each private event room is inspected prior to a function to verify that the room set-up according to BEO. Work with the Chef on all special event menu items and requests. Assisting with training & mentorship of staff regarding event execution.  Assisting General Manager with restaurant duties when requested (closing or opening restaurant, training of staff & menu updates)  Required to achieve designated revenue sales goals. Required to maintain existing accounts as well as solicit new business Required Skills: 2 years related experience in a similar role, similar environment, booking a minimum of 800k annually in event revenue Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Detailed oriented with a strong emphasis on accuracy. Strong background in hospitality and private events Strong PC skills with a working knowledge of including but not limited to MS Excel, MS Word, MS Office, and Outlook. Event booking platforms (Cvent, Triple seat, TPP)  knowledge is a plus Working Conditions: Ability to stand, lift, and bend for extended periods of time. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. May require tasks involving repetitive motion. Exposure to hot kitchen elements and cleaning materials. Ability to remain focused and perform in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment. Flexible schedule availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Compensation & Benefits: This is a full-time, exempt position.  The Mulberry is a non-tipping establishment. Compensation includes base salary plus eligibility for a discretionary, performance-based bonus system.
