Obstetrics and Gynecology Nurse Practitioner Position Summary The Obstetrics and Gynecology Nurse Practitioner provides advanced practice nursing care to women across the lifespan, focusing on preventive care, obstetric and gynecologic services, and management of acute and chronic women s health conditions. This role functions collaboratively with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive women s health care, including gynecologic and obstetric servicesConduct patient histories, physical examinations, and health assessmentsManage routine and complex gynecologic conditions within scope of practiceProvide prenatal, postpartum, and family planning care as applicablePerform office-based procedures within scope of practicePrescribe medications and manage treatment plans in accordance with licensureOrder, interpret, and document diagnostic tests and resultsEducate patients on reproductive health, wellness, and preventive careCollaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and ancillary servicesCoordinate care transitions and referrals to specialists as neededMaintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic health recordParticipate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives Practice Setting Outpatient women s health clinic and/or inpatient hospital settingMay include labor and delivery, postpartum, or gynecologic services depending on practice modelSchedule and coverage vary based on clinical needs Patient Population Female patients across the reproductive and post-reproductive lifespanObstetric and gynecologic patients with acute and chronic conditions Qualifications Master s or Doctoral degree in NursingGraduate of an accredited Women s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) or related NP programNational board certification as a Women s Health Nurse Practitioner (or equivalent)Eligible for unrestricted nurse practitioner licensure in the practicing stateDEA registration or eligibility Skills & Competencies Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skillsKnowledge of women s health, obstetrics, and gynecology best practicesExcellent communication and patient education abilitiesCommitment to patient-centered, evidence-based careAbility to work collaboratively in a team-based environment Work Environment Women s health clinical practice settingMultidisciplinary care modelFocus on preventive care, education, and patient advocacy
