The Opportunity Dumfries, VA NextCare Urgent Care is actively seeking an Urgent Care Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our clinic in Dumfries, Virginia. This role is based on-site at our Dumfries, VA urgent care clinic and will focus on providing high-quality care to a diverse urgent care patient population. In this role, you will practice with a high level of clinical autonomy, supported by physician oversight, standardized clinical protocols, and a collaborative care team. What You ll Do Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients in accordance with clinical best practices for an urgent care and occupational health setting Deliver compassionate, respectful, and patient-centered care aligned with NextCare s mission and values Manage urgent care presentations across the lifespan, from pediatrics to geriatrics Clearly communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions Document care accurately and efficiently in the electronic health record (EHR) Take personal responsibility for appropriate coding and billing Maintain clinical productivity consistent with peer and industry standards Follow up on patient care as clinically indicated Practice ethically, legally, and in alignment with organizational standards How You ll Make an Impact By delivering exemplary care in our Dumfries, Virginia clinic, you will help build strong relationships within the local community and directly contribute to the continued success and growth of NextCare. Required Qualifications Active, unrestricted state medical license Active DEA registration Physician Assistant: NCCPA certification Nurse Practitioner: ANCC or AANP certification (must be certified to treat patients across the lifespan, e.g., FNP) Bachelor s degree in Physician Assistant Studies or Master s degree in Nursing (NP) Active BLS certification Comfortable treating patients of all ages EHR proficiency Willingness to work occasional weekends and holidays (based on clinic needs) DOT certification may be required; if not currently certified, NextCare will cover training at no cost Highly Preferred Prior urgent care, emergency department fast-track, or walk-in clinic experience Experience with minor procedures such as suturing Initial X-ray interpretation experience prior to radiologist over-read Master s degree in Physician Assistant Studies (for PAs) Benefits NextCare offers a comprehensive benefits package for full-time providers, including: $5,000 sign-on bonus CME and license reimbursement Malpractice insurance Medical, dental, and vision insurance Health Savings Account (HSA) Life and disability coverage Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Critical illness, accident, legal, and identity theft coverage Paid Time Off (PTO) 401(k) plan (available to employees of all statuses) Benefits are offered in accordance with plan documents and eligibility requirements.
