Job Description

Position Summary The General Dentist provides comprehensive oral healthcare services to adult and pediatric patients in a community health center setting. This role emphasizes preventive care, patient education, and evidence-based treatment while working collaboratively within an integrated care model to support whole-person health. Key Responsibilities Clinical Care Perform comprehensive dental examinations, diagnoses, and treatment planningProvide a full scope of general dentistry services, including:Preventive care (cleanings, fluoride, sealants)Restorative dentistry (fillings, crowns)Simple and surgical extractionsEndodontic and limited prosthodontic procedures, as appropriateManage dental emergencies and urgent care needsDeliver care in accordance with evidence-based clinical standards and FQHC guidelines Patient Education & Engagement Educate patients on oral hygiene, disease prevention, and treatment optionsPromote patient understanding, compliance, and long-term oral healthProvide compassionate, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive care Collaboration & Program Support Work closely with dental hygienists, dental assistants, and front-office staffCollaborate with medical and behavioral health providers as part of an integrated care teamParticipate in community outreach, school-based programs, or health education initiatives as assigned Documentation, Compliance & Quality Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the electronic dental record (EDR)Comply with HRSA, OSHA, CDC, and Ohio Dental Practice Act requirementsAdhere to infection control, sterilization, and patient safety protocolsParticipate in quality improvement initiatives, peer review, and performance improvement activities Required Qualifications DDS or DMD from an accredited dental schoolCurrent or eligible Ohio dental licenseDEA registration (or eligibility)CPR/BLS certificationCommitment to serving underserved and diverse populations Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in an FQHC, community health center, or public health settingExperience treating Medicaid and uninsured populationsFamiliarity with electronic dental records and quality reportingInterest in community outreach and preventive dentistry Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary commensurate with experienceEligibility for NHSC Loan Repayment ProgramComprehensive benefits package, which may include:Medical, dental, and vision insurancePaid time off and paid holidaysContinuing education allowance and paid CE timeMalpractice insurance coverageRetirement plan options Work Environment Mission-driven, team-based clinical settingSupportive leadership and collegial dental teamOpportunity to make a lasting impact in a community-focused practice
