Position SummaryThe President & CEO serves as NBOME s chief executive leader, responsible for implementing the organization s strategic plan and guiding its global presence. This role oversees all NBOME departments and Executive Leadership Team members, facilitates strong governance practices, and ensures alignment between the Board, staff, and mission. The CEO will primarily operate onsite at either the Chicago, IL or Philadelphia, PA area NBOME Offices with regular travel between offices as well as to national and international conferences, and medical institutions and colleges of osteopathic medicine.ResponsibilitiesServe as the primary spokesperson for the organization, building external relationships and serving as an advocate, including to external stakeholder groups such as the medical licensing authorities, colleges of osteopathic medicine and their deans, osteopathic medical students and residents and their organizations, graduate medical education programs, program directors, and their organizations, professional organizations, testing clients including those at specialty colleges and certifying boards, other medical regulation authorities, and the international organizations involved in the osteopathic profession and medical regulation.Lead the organization, inspiring and motivating employees; promoting a culture that reflects the organization s values, encourages good performance, and rewards productivity; maintaining a qualified, high-performing staff structure that supports the organization s goals, objectives and priorities; overseeing and supervising the work of the NBOME Executive Leadership Team; facilitating succession planning for staff; and leading by example.Keep the mission at the forefront when making decisions, including monitoring and reporting trends to the organization in the field and changes in stakeholder needs, and assuring quality, consistency and relevance of branding and communications materials.Follow the highest ethical standards, ensuring accountability and compliance with the law, and exercise responsible financial stewardship, including working with finance leadership in making sound day-to-day and month-to-month financial decisions based on the organization s overall financial picture and in assuring the resources are indeed used to achieve NBOME s mission, and maintaining sound internal controls and protection of the organization s assets against fraud and abuse, complying with all local, state and federal legal requirements.Support the Board, including regularly informing the Board and the Executive Committee of all activity of the Board; facilitating Executive Committee and Board meetings and retreats; facilitating engagement of Board members on NBOME Committees and monitoring activities of all Board committees; providing helpful and useful information to the Board; preparing and delivering to the Board at least annually a written report of all activities and projects of the NBOME; promoting Board member accomplishments and productivity; envisioning change and innovation within the Board including supporting the Board in continuous efforts in President & CEO succession planning.Engage the Board in strategic planning and lead implementation, including making planning a priority and allocating adequate resources; creating mechanisms for implementation and monitoring/measuring progress.Develop future Board and staff leadership, including staff liaison to the Board Nominating Committee; working with Board leadership to appoint operational committee chairs and select Board Committee Chairs; continually considering succession planning for Board, Board committees, operational committees, staff positions and other National Faculty roles; monitoring Board member effectiveness; facilitating program documentation across the organization at the governance and staff levels, including at the President and CEO position to facilitate succession planning.Ensure the quality and effectiveness of programs, including engaging the stakeholders in strategic planning; allocating resources to track changes and impact over time, and measure success; using information gleaned through evaluation and assessment to make management decisions and strengthen programs; promoting and monitoring research and development of new programs; facilitating Board Standards and Assurances Committee process to aim for best practices in COMLEX-USA examination program and extending into all NBOME products and services.QualificationsLicensed and board certified D.O. (AOA board certified preferred) required.Masters or Doctorate in relevant field helpful.Active, current, unrestricted licensure status required.Minimum 10 years practical experience which may include clinical practice, senior administrator/leadership positions, and experience in high stakes testing.Experience with licensure or regulation, and experience in higher education at a college of osteopathic medicine or graduate medical education program strongly preferred.Demonstrated advocacy for the osteopathic profession.Excellent written and verbal communication skills including experience creating presentations and presenting to various audiences both in person and virtually required.Interacting effectively with other key stakeholders via social media preferred.Experience in the dissemination of scholarly work preferred.Working knowledge of psychometrics and statistics required.Ability and willingness to travel regularly and work demanding schedule including regular, onsite presence at both NBOME offices.Interested applicants should submit a cover letter and CV to by March 1, 2026.
