MedStar Medical Group Anesthesiology is seeking a dedicated and skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Acute Pain Service (APS) at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, a premier academic medical center located in the heart of Washington, DC. This role offers a high-impact clinical experience within a fast-paced, collaborative environment, serving a diverse patient population across a wide range of complex surgical services. As part of a cohesive and highly specialized APS team, the NP will play a vital role in advancing pain management practices while working closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and multidisciplinary care teams in an academic hospital setting. New graduates are welcome to apply. Interested nurse practitioners with FNP or AGACNP certification are encouraged to apply, as well. Position OverviewThe Nurse Practitioner will function as a clinical consultant within a multidisciplinary team, managing both acute and chronic pain for hospitalized patients. Key responsibilities include:Rounding daily on new and established patientsConducting comprehensive patient assessments and perioperative evaluationsPerforming histories and physicals (H&Ps), interpreting diagnostic tests, and developing care plansPrescribing and managing pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic pain treatmentsManaging epidural and peripheral nerve cathetersDocumenting clinical findings in progress notesEducating patients and families on pain management strategiesProviding pain management education and serving as a clinical resource for healthcare team members across the institution Position will include mandatory 6-8 weeks of initial, comprehensive training at our hospitals in Washington, D.C. The salary offered for this specific position is based on a number of legitimate, non-discriminatory factors set by MedStar Health.
