JOB OVERVIEW Job Title: Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Surgical Oncology (Hepatobiliary/Pancreatic)Job Type: Locum TenensLocation: Minneapolis, MNService Setting: Inpatient/OutpatientCoverage Type: Clinical OnlyCoverage Period: 03/09/ weeksClinical Shift Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30a 4:00p COVERAGE DATESStart date: March 9, 2026Duration: 13-week assignment PATIENT INFORMATION Patient Demographics: AdultsAdmissions: Inpatient surgical oncology admissions as indicatedRounding: IncludedPhone Consults: As requiredCase Mix: Hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgical oncology patients FACILITY INFORMATION Trauma Level: Adult Level III / IVOffice Equipment Available: Standard inpatient and outpatient clinical equipmentSpecialty Backup Available: Surgical oncology attending physiciansSupport Staff Available: Multidisciplinary oncology care teams PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Hospital Privileges Required: YesCredentialing Timeline: Approximately 810 weeks for Nurse Practitioners and 45 months for Physician AssistantsFingerprinting Required: Yes; results must be posted prior to privileges being granted COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: CoveredOrientation: 4 hours non-billable REQUIRED PROCEDURESAssisting in the operating room including patient preparation, intraoperative assistance, and closureWound care and drain care or removalPerioperative and postoperative patient management JOB REQUIREMENTS Licenses: Minnesota license required for quick start; NPs without license may be reviewedBoard: National certification required for NP or PAExperience: Prior experience in surgical oncology or inpatient surgical services preferredOther Qualifications: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in inpatient and outpatient settingsOrientation: 4 hours non-billable DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide comprehensive care to surgical oncology patients in both inpatient and outpatient settingsCoordinate preoperative and postoperative care in collaboration with surgeonsComplete patient assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plansOrder and interpret diagnostic studies in coordination with attending physiciansPrescribe medications, therapies, and medical equipment as appropriateEducate patients and families regarding treatment plans and recoveryParticipate in multidisciplinary care coordination and roundingServe as a clinical resource to staff and act as liaison with outside agencies as neededDocument all patient care activities accurately and timely
