Description: The Customer Quality Engineer (CQE) is the primary quality interface for high-value customers within a large, multi-site manufacturing environment. This role owns customer quality issues end-to-end, from initial containment through root cause, corrective action, and formal customer response. The CQE works closely with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to ensure rapid resolution, sustained corrective actions, and continued customer confidence. Core ResponsibilitiesServe as the primary quality point of contact for assigned high-value customer.Manage customer quality issues, complaints, and returns from receipt through closure.Lead structured root cause investigations using methodologies such as 8D, 5 Whys, and FishbonDevelop, implement, and verify corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)Coordinate containment, rework, and corrective actions with Operations and Manufacturing teamPartner with Engineering on design, process, and technical investigationWork with Supply Chain and suppliers to resolve externally driven quality issues impacting customerTrack and report customer quality metrics including PPM, complaint trends, response times, and closure effectivenessSupport continuous improvement efforts driven by customer feedback and quality performance datePrepare and deliver formal customer quality responses, including 8D and RCCA reports Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering preferred); equivalent experience consideredApproximately 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or engineering-based quality role with direct customer responsibilityDemonstrated experience supporting high-value customers and managing the day-to-day logistics that come with customer quality ownershipDirect experience supporting demanding customers, managing returns and compliance requirements, and operating comfortably in a fast-paced, multi-faceted operationStrong understanding of customer compliance requirements, customer returns, and foundational quality systemsExperience operating in a large-scale, multi-site, or multi-stakeholder manufacturing environmentHighly adaptable, flexible, and able to learn quickly in a dynamic settingStrong communicator capable of representing quality internally and externallyHigh growth potential; this role is intended for someone who can be developed into expanded responsibility and future leadershipAbility to travel domestically up to 50% Preferred QualificationsStrong attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and a high level of organization.Ability to work well in a fast-paced professional environment and efficiently in a remote work setting.Background in contract manufacturing quality assurance. LocationOnsite in Richmond, VA, or remote, depending on candidate location and business needs. CompensationThe anticipated starting salary range for this role is $115,000- $125,000 per year. Actual salary varies due to factors that may include but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, certifications, and location. This hire will be eligible for a discretionary bonus or incentive compensation. Variable compensation may depend on various factors, such as individual and organizational performance.
