Under the direction of the collaborating neuro-intensivist physicians, the Nurse Practitioner delivers high-quality, evidence-based care to critically ill neurological patients in the Neuro-ICU and throughout the hospital as needed.The NP obtains comprehensive histories and performs detailed neurological and systemic physical examinations. Responsibilities include ordering and interpreting diagnostic imaging, laboratory studies, and neurophysiologic monitoring; formulating differential diagnoses; and implementing both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment plans. The provider delivers education on therapeutic regimens, procedures, and care expectations, and maintains timely and accurate documentation including progress notes, orders, and procedure notes.This role provides continuity of care throughout the patient's hospitalization and collaborates closely with neuro-intensivists, neurosurgeons, neurologists, emergency medicine, rapid response teams, and allied health professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
