The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit.Special Mentions:This role will be onsite in Bay Area, CA. It is approved for a temporary remote work exception while our local site is developedRelocation assistance is available for this positionTravel may be required up to 15% of the time to Blue Origin facilities and partner locationsResponsibilitiesArchitect and implement network orchestration solutions to create a routing framework for satellite networksCreate and maintain network models to predict performance and identify optimization opportunitiesCollaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate network capabilities into broader systems and applicationsAnalyze network performance and troubleshoot complex issues across distributed systemsImplement security best practices and protocols to protect network infrastructureEvaluate and recommend new networking technologies and solutions to enhance network capabilities and performanceUnderstand the implications of network planning on spacecraft operations and design accordinglyLead technical discussions and provide expert guidance on networking solutionsMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Network Engineering, or related technical field7+ years of experience in network architecture, design, or engineeringStrong understanding of networking and network protocols including OSPF, RIP, BGP, MPLS, SRv6, L2 VPNs, and L3 VPNsExperience with architecting, designing, or developing software-defined networking solutionsExperience with network modeling and simulation toolsProficiency in developing and maintaining network architecture diagrams and technical documentationPreferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field10+ years of experience in network architecture with focus on routingExperience with networking for constrained links such as 3GPP and satellite networksKnowledge of spacecraft operations and constraints as they relate to communications systemsFamiliarity with network function virtualization and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)Background in aerospace or defense industriesCertifications such as CCIE, JNCIE, or equivalent advanced networking certificationsKnowledge of emerging space-based networking standards and technologiesCompensation Compensation Range for:CA applicants is $145,188.00 - $203,263.20; WA applicants is $145,188.00 - $203,263.20.
