JOB OVERVIEW Job Title: NP/PA Critical CareJob Type: Locum TenensLocation: Atlanta, GAService Setting: InpatientCoverage Type: Clinical OnlyCoverage Period: 03/01 31/2026Clinical Shift Schedule: Full-time night shift coverage; three 12-hour shifts per weekShift Hours: 7:00p 7:30a (includes sign-out to oncoming shift) COVERAGE DATESStart date: March 1, 2026End date: May 31, 2026 PATIENT INFORMATION Patient Demographics: Adult ICU patientsPatient Volume/Census: Typical APP-to-patient ratio of 1015 ICU patients per APPAdmissions: Medical and surgical ICU admissionsRounding: Included each shiftPhone Consults: As requiredCase Mix: Critically ill patients in a high-acuity ICU setting FACILITY INFORMATION EMR System: CernerOffice Equipment Available: Standard ICU and procedural equipmentSpecialty Backup Available: Attending intensivists and specialty consultantsSupport Staff Available: ICU nursing staff and multidisciplinary care teamsReason for Coverage: Supplemental night shift coverage PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Hospital Privileges Required: YesCase Logs Required: Yes, for central and arterial line procedures REQUIRED PROCEDURESCentral venous line insertion (CVLs, vascaths, introducers)Arterial line insertionICU patient assessment and management JOB REQUIREMENTS Licenses: Active state licensure requiredBoard: Nurse Practitioners must be Acute Care Certified (ACNP) Physician Assistants must hold appropriate national certificationExperience: Minimum of 12 years of ICU experience as an APPSkills: Proficiency in ICU procedures including central and arterial line placementOther Qualifications: Ability to work independently in a high-acuity ICU environment; effective communication with physicians and nursing staff DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Manage critically ill patients in a high-acuity ICU settingPerform comprehensive patient assessments and implement treatment plansCollaborate with attending physicians on plan of care and clinical decision-makingInterpret diagnostic studies and laboratory resultsPerform required invasive ICU procedures per credentialingParticipate in multidisciplinary rounds each shiftCommunicate effectively with ICU nursing staff and ancillary teamsDocument all patient care accurately and timely in the EMR
