Administrative Specialist The Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards (OSCCS) within Student Affairs is looking for an Administrator to serve as the first point of contact for the office. This role involves communicating with students, faculty, staff, parents/guardians, alumni, attorneys, and the public through various channels, including in-person interactions, email, telephone, text messages, and our Maxient database. To be successful in this position, the Administrator must manage a wide range of situations with patience and understanding. It is crucial to handle sensitive student information properly, maintaining a high level of confidentiality as required by federal and state laws. This position is well-suited for someone who can develop a thorough understanding of OSCCS services to resolve and document requests, while also escalating urgent issues to the appropriate OSCCS staff, all within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. OSCCS is responsible for managing the student misconduct process at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. This process is governed by three chapters of Wisconsin administrative law that apply to all UW campuses and students (Chapters 14, 17, and 18). Key Job Responsibilities: Implements and executes established policies and procedures for a designated work unit to adhere to unit objectives and to align with established strategies Serves on committees and attends meetings, representing the interests of the unit or program Assists, recommends, and advises staff on unit or program administrative issues, personnel matters, and budgetary problems Analyzes data and trends, compiles progress reports, and provides appropriate recommendations or conclusions in support of the assigned operational work unit(s) Handle sensitive information appropriately, maintaining high level of confidentiality of student information, as required by federal and state law. Schedules logistics and secures resources for a designated work unit to contribute to the day-to-day operational success Department: Student Affairs, Student Advocacy, Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards (OSCCS) Reporting to the Dean of Students, within the Student Affairs division, the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards at UW-Madison strives to ensure the university's teaching, learning, research and service activities occur in living and learning environments that are safe and free from violence, harassment, fraud, theft, disruption and intimidation. OSCCS is responsible for addressing student academic and nonacademic misconduct; this responsibility is separate from and independent of any civil or criminal action resulting from a student's conduct. The office is committed to respecting students' constitutional rights, including rights of freedom of speech or to peaceably assemble with others. Compensation: The expected minimum starting salary for this position is $50,000.00 annually. Actual pay will depend on experience and qualifications. Required Qualifications: Demonstrated skills in administration, organization, and program management. Ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities while effectively organizing and coordinating diverse activities in a busy office environment with many interruptions. Ability to communicate with tact, courtesy, and discretion when interacting with all customers. Preferred Qualifications: Experience as an authorized user of a Student Information System (SIS) and/or Maxient. Previous professional experience in Student Life (Student Affairs) or work related to the student conduct process.
