People Operations SpecialistPayroll, Benefits & Onboarding | Multi-Client | RemoteAbout the RoleWere looking for a People Operations Specialist to support small business clients in a multi-state outsourced environment. This role partners closely with the Director of People Operations to support core HR functions, ensuring consistency, compliance, and smooth delivery of People Ops services.This is not a high-volume data entry role. This is a client-facing position requiring collaboration with our payroll, bookkeeping, HR, recruiting, and advisory teams.You will ensure payroll is reviewed accurately before submission, onboarding documentation is complete before start dates, benefits are set up correctly, and compliance requirements are handled properly and on time.If you love organized checklists, clean documentation, tight deadlines, and the satisfaction of catching errors before they become problems, this role may be your sweet spot.What Youll DoPayroll Oversight & Deadline ManagementServe as backup to the Payroll Specialist and process payroll when needed.Review payroll registers for accuracy before submission.Monitor payroll calendars and proactively obtain missing timesheets, approvals, and documentation.Catch discrepancies before they become client problems.Ensure new hire reporting and terminations are handled correctly.Benefits AdministrationAdminister medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement plans.Track eligibility and manage enrollments and qualifying life events.Reconcile benefit invoices to payroll deductions.Ensure timely 401(k) contribution remittance.Coordinate open enrollment processes.Follow up persistently to collect required enrollment documentation.Onboarding & Pre-Employment ComplianceDraft and send compliant offer letters.Coordinate onboarding timelines and required documentation.Conduct remote I-9 verification.Initiate background checks and drug screenings.Ensure documentation is complete before start dates.Handbook & Policy SupportCustomize employee handbooks using approved legal templates.Maintain version control and documentation records.Update policies as regulations change.Client CommunicationServe as a primary point of contact for payroll and onboarding matters.Communicate deadlines clearly and confidently.Follow up professionally when information is missing.Work cross-functionally to ensure seamless service delivery.
