Job Details – PICU RN / Travel Nurse Location: Asheville, NC 28801 (Asheville nursing jobs, North Carolina travel nursing) Role: PICU Registered Nurse (Pediatric ICU RN) – Travel Nurse Facility: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), 9 beds Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 01/16/2026 – End: 04/17/2026) Estimated Weekly Pay: $1680 - $1770 (competitive travel nurse pay) Hours per Week: 36 Shift: 12-hour nights (18:45–07:15) Dress Code: All navy, all white, or navy pants with white tops Scheduling: Self-scheduling; must work 3 weekends in a 6-week schedule Charting / Systems: Cerner EMR Equipment: Alaris pumps Floating: May float to Pediatrics and NICU (PICU travel nurse may cross-cover) PICU RN Requirements / Qualifications License: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license—state requirements apply (North Carolina RN license or compact privileges where applicable) Experience: Minimum 1 year of recent PICU nursing experience required (pediatric critical care experience preferred) Certification: PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required Clinical Skills: IV starts, urinary catheterization, central line dressing changes, hemodynamic monitoring, trach care, tube feeding and placement, ICP monitoring, ventilator management Competencies: Strong assessment skills, pediatric critical care judgment, ability to work independently as a travel nurse in a fast-paced PICU Responsibilities – Pediatric Intensive Care Nurse Provide evidence-based, compassionate care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU and stepdown settings Perform advanced procedures including IV starts, urinary catheterization, central line dressing changes, and ventilator management Monitor and respond to hemodynamic changes, provide trach care, and manage enteral nutrition needs Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary pediatric care team to optimize patient outcomes Document accurately in Cerner EMR and maintain compliance with unit policies, patient safety standards, and travel nurse orientation requirements Float as needed to Pediatrics and NICU while maintaining safe practice within scope and competency Why Join This Asheville PICU Travel Nursing Job?
