King County Metro is seeking a detail-oriented and people-centered Mentorship Project/Program Manager I to support implementation and day-to-day coordination of our Mentors Moving Metro program. This is a TLT/SDA position expected to last through 12/2027. This program, developed in partnership with labor partner ATU 587, pairs new bus operators with experienced operators as mentors to support the well-being, sense of belonging, and retention of new Operators. In this position, you will support program operations, logistics, communications, data tracking, and participant engagement. You'll help coordinate trainings and events (both virtual and in-person), manage outreach efforts at Metro bases, and maintain accurate records to support reporting and evaluation. You'll also work closely with internal partners and frontline employees to build trust, answer questions, and promote program participation. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment. The successful candidate will be comfortable engaging directly with Operators and employees across diverse backgrounds, communicating clearly with individuals whose primary language may not be English, and applying principles of equity, inclusion, and respect in daily work. This recruitment will be used to fill one TLT/SDA position. In addition, this selection process may be used to generate an eligibility pool for future term limited temporary, and special duty assignment vacancies that may occur in this classification within this workgroup. The eligibility pool will be retained for 12 months from the date of posting and may be used at the discretion of the hiring authority. Job Duties Support transit mentorship program implementation, management and coordination across divisions with internal and external stakeholders. Support program operations, including documenting and tracking event logistics, communications, program delivery, and evaluation. Manage logistics and setup for trainings, events, tabling activities, and meetings (both virtual and in-person), including scheduling, preparing materials, and coordinating needs with team and partners. Gather and compile program data for analysis and reporting, including: Tracking participant enrollment, contact information, and matching mentors and new Operator mentees Monitoring program activities such as mentoring sessions, outreach interactions, and events Organizing survey responses, feedback forms, and other evaluation tools Maintaining accurate databases or spreadsheets to support program reporting, with attention to detail and accuracy Supporting preparation of dashboards, summaries, or reports for internal stakeholders Communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including individuals whose primary language is not English. Support program communications and participant engagement, including: Partnering with other teams to develop outreach communications and materials Communicating with program participants via phone, email, and other platforms Coordinating and conducting outreach to recruit program participants at King County Metro bases Meeting Operators at bases to share program information and answer questions Providing information and support to new Operators about the mentorship program Build trust and engage employees through transparency, inclusion, and respect. Be available to support occasional evening and weekend events or program activities, as needed. Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills Minimum Qualifications Experience in operational, administrative, or program support roles that required coordination, tracking, communication, and documentation. Experience organizing logistics for meetings, trainings, or events (e.g., scheduling, attendance tracking, materials preparation). Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records and manage data with strong attention to detail. Strong written and oral communication skills, including experience drafting professional correspondence or program-related communications. Experience using Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams; ability to learn systems such as SharePoint and Adobe products. Demonstrated customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with a variety of audiences. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures, applying principles of equity, inclusion, and respect. Demonstrated ability to multitask, manage competing priorities, and solve problems in a fast-paced or operational environment. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Desired Qualifications Familiarity with King County Metro, Metro Operations, or a similar operational environment. Experience working in frontline operational settings (e.g., transit operations, base environments, custodial or equivalent environments). Experience conducting outreach or engaging directly with frontline employees, including Operators, including experience adapting communication approaches for individuals whose primary language may not be English. Experience supporting mentorship programs, employee engagement initiatives, or training programs. Experience developing outreach materials (e.g., flyers, posters, informational communications). Experience compiling and reporting program data. Experience working in environments that require strong recordkeeping practices. Work Schedule This position is non-exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for overtime pay. The work week is Monday through Friday, day shift; a flexible work schedule is available with approval. Variations in hours are occasionally necessary. The team works in a hybrid model, with days in the office as well as telecommuting. Currently, there will be a minimum of one day per week required in the office The ratio of remote to onsite work will be dependent on business needs and is subject to change. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities.
