Company Description Scott Contractors Inc. is a family-owned commercial and industrial site development contractor specializing in heavy and highway site work. With extensive experience in general construction, bridgework, and marine construction. Scott Contractors Inc. is a certified Womens Business Enterprise by the Women's Business Enterprise National Council. Role Description The Assistant Estimator role at Scott Contractors Inc. is a full-time, on-site position based in Norristown, PA. The Assistant Estimator will be responsible for assisting in preparing cost estimates for various commercial and industrial site development projects, analyzing project requirements, gathering and reviewing data, and preparing reports. Responsibilities also include collaborating with project managers and team members to ensure accurate project planning and budgeting, reviewing contracts, communicating with vendors and subcontractors, and providing support for bid submissions. Estimators are actively involved in pre-construction activities, so the ideal candidate will have experience throughout the entire project cycle. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of applicable estimating experience in the site construction industry Strong analytical thinking with experience in cost estimation, data analysis, and financial planning Experience in site development, construction management, or related fields Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with vendors and project teams Attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management abilities Ability to work on-site in Norristown, PA, and strong teamwork orientation Preferred qualifications include familiarity with heavy and highway site work, bridgework, or marine construction Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field is preferred Ability to work on-site in Norristown, PA, and strong teamwork orientation Responsibilities: Prepare complete estimates and proposals for paving, heavy highway construction, and other site-work projects, including: Analyzing data related to project design, including civil and construction drawings and specifications Estimating job costs, material, and labor needs Preparing proposals and work plans with completion dates and conceptual budgets; completing and submitting bid forms for new projects Soliciting bids/quotes from subcontractors and suppliers Have knowledge of construction codes Understand project plans and submittals Participating in pre-bid meetings, periodic reviews and site visits, as needed.
