Chief Control Office Specialist Northern Trust, a globally recognized, award-winning financial institution, is seeking a Specialist for the Chief Control Office. This role is critical within the 1LOD and will support and drive the design and implementation of Northern Trust's internal control architecture, standards, inventory, and establishment of quality standards. This will also include the execution of other high priority projects and activities related to enterprise internal controls. The ideal candidate will have significant experience working in a fast-paced program delivery environment, coupled with subject matter expert knowledge of all aspects of internal controls and operational risk. The ability to understand risk and control frameworks integration, structure, and alignment will be paramount. The candidate will also need program/project delivery experience, leading large, high-profile pieces of work. The role will be part of a centralized team which needs to drive consistency and effectiveness around the internal control inventory, control standards, quality adherence, and the utilization of internal controls to mitigate risk. Verbal and written communication skills will be mission critical as the role will support liaising with key stakeholders and collaborating with senior business leaders on key initiatives. This is a newly created function, which will require self-starting abilities and a proven track record of delivery and execution in a fast-paced global environment. The key responsibilities will include: Group wide control architecture including strategy and framework Control standard including internal control methodology and best practice for control practitioners Control inventory to drive consistency in how controls mitigate risk across the group Ongoing oversight and management of the control inventory, adopted by control owners, including relevant governance and reporting Work with control owners across the group to harmonize and align control and other relevant internal standards Seek out and implement opportunities for increased usage of automated controls and/or machine learning Work closely with 1st and 2nd line of defense risk and control partners to develop and enhance risk and control management best practices Skills/experience: Significant experience/expertise in global banking organizations, specializing in risk/control management and program delivery Proven experience at a multi-national financial institution or consulting firm Experience with governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) tools highly desirable Practical experience developing and/or implementing risk and control frameworks Delivery focused mindset gained through project and/or program management experience e.g. planning, issue management/escalation and running large workshops/forums Critical thinker with superior problem solving abilities who is able to organize and manage people and resources to effectively prioritize issues and respond to senior management, boards, and key stakeholders Strong communication written/oral skills, ability to communicate complex topics in a simple and concise manner Ability to engage a diverse set of stakeholders, build long-term relationships, and create a collaborative and approachable environment Ability to think strategically, execute with precision and prioritize in a fast-paced environment Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a related field. An MBA, CFA, or related advanced credentials preferred Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay.
