Job Details Position Type: Travel RN, Full Time Location: San Antonio, TX 78207 (downtown San Antonio healthcare jobs) Unit: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) / Pediatric ICU Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour shifts) Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Temp-to-perm possible) Estimated Weekly Hours: 36 Start Date: March 23, 2026 Number of Openings: 3 Estimated Weekly Pay: $1570-$1650/week PICU RN Requirements Current RN license in Texas or compact state (compact license accepted) Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA only) Minimum 1 year of recent Pediatric ICU / PICU experience required Demonstrated ventilator management and pediatric critical care skills Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred Completion of New Nurse Orientation within 30 days of hire (for new hires) Successful completion of competency validations and annual verifications Key Responsibilities – Pediatric Critical Care Nurse Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation) Provide high-quality medication administration and treatments per protocol; monitor for side effects and clinical effectiveness Manage ventilators and advanced life support equipment; respond to rapid changes in patient condition Document patient history, symptoms, treatments, and clinical outcomes accurately in the medical record Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families and provide family-centered care Assess education needs and teach patients, families, and caregivers about care plans, discharge planning, and aftercare Delegate and assign tasks appropriately to support efficient clinical workflow and patient safety Participate in ongoing competency assessments, skills validation, and quality improvement initiatives Why Join Our Team Opportunity to work in a high-acuity pediatric ICU with an experienced team of critical care providers Travel RN role ideal for PICU nurses seeking diverse clinical experience and professional growth Supportive onboarding and competency validation for travel nurses and new hires Competitive travel RN pay (varies by assignment) — support available for licensure and relocation Apply now to join our pediatric critical care team in San Antonio, TX.
