Shocker Card Center / IT Student Part-time Under general supervision, this student performs the duties required in order to ensure the daily efficient operation of the Shocker Card Center. Duties include the production of ID cards utilized by Wichita State University, the creation of database records, and cash handling. Must demonstrate a strong commitment to PROUD (Professional, Responsive, Open, Understanding, and Dependable) service standards and customer focus. Collaborate with Director and fellow employees to be Shocker PROUD and provide excellent customer service. Creating and issuing Shocker Cards according to Card Center policies. Providing exceptional customer service. Creating and issuing ID Badges and Cards used around campus. Accurately create records within a database. Maintain a high level of confidentiality. Perform maintenance on card production equipment. Troubleshoot software and hardware issues on card production equipment. Receive and account for payments for ID cards and badges. Give directions to various departments around campus. Perform other related duties as required or assigned. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. High school diploma or GED required. Must be a student currently enrolled at Wichita State University. Required to use close vision and be able to focus. Work on computer for long periods of time which consists of sitting for long periods of time. Regularly required to talk and hear; frequently required to sit, stand and bend at the knee and waist, and walk. Must be able to have hand or finger movement to type and work on computer. Must have good hand-eye coordination to work on computer, telephone, and related office equipment. Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function. Exposed to quiet or low noise in general office conditions. Some occasional loud noises. Occasional walking around campus is required in seasonal temperatures from 15 degrees to 100 degrees. Occasional work near moving mechanical parts. Exposure to chemical cleaning agents used in office area and card production hardware. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Must be able to work under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service. Ability to work independently or in a team to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices. Good judgement, problem solving skills and decision making skills. Excellent attention to detail.
