The successful candidate will be responsible for owning and making critical accounting policy decisions across a range of areas, including large transactions, investments, and insurance liabilities. This role requires a high level of judgment and influence, as well as the ability to lead a small, dedicated team. Key responsibilities include leading policy analysis for significant business activities, driving the implementation of new accounting standards, and partnering with various internal and external stakeholders. The Head of Accounting Policy will also be involved in setting and maintaining policies for a variety of insurance products and structures, as well as supporting M&A, block reinsurance, and capital transactions. Applicants for the Head of Accounting Policy position at the company should have a minimum of 10 years' experience in life insurance or reinsurance accounting, with at least 5 years in a technical accounting or accounting policy role. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in block re, legal entity deals, and complex transactions, and possess deep product knowledge in areas such as variable annuities, fixed indexed annuities, payout annuities, and universal life. The role demands a professional with the ability to review and modernize legacy policies, oversee the development of policy memos and technical conclusions, and ensure the effective execution of policies into financial reporting.
