QA/NDT Inspector

Bay Metals & Fabrication, LLC is currently seeking a full-time QA/NDT Inspector. Strong attention to detail, a dependable work ethic and the ability and willingness to learn are essential to this position. Job duties include, but are not limited to: Read and interpret documents furnished as specifications, procedures, diagrams, NAVSEA tech pubs or fabrication drawings. Review specifications and Test and Inspection Plans prior to start of work, during, and after work is complete for completeness, accuracy and compliance with technical directions and requirements. Perform Quality Assurance Inspections associated with mechanical, structural, piping, and electrical repairs and installation of systems prefab and aboard ships. Have knowledge of welding joint design and joint fit up requirements per NAVSEA tech pubs or fabrication drawings Perform Non-Destructive Testing Visual Inspection on welds in accordance with applicable specifications, standards, and company policies and procedures on shipboard structural and piping systems. Perform in process shipboard surveillances and other quality related tasks as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager. Prior qualification in PT, MT, and/or UT and experience with CAD is a plus. Candidates must be able to gain access to area shipyards and naval bases (NN-HII, NASSCO, BAE Systems, MHI, NNSY, NOB etc.). Candidates must follow company/ship/yard safety rules at all times, and ensure these rules are followed by others. Candidates must also be willing to work overtime/weekends (when required). Physical Requirements: Must be able to safely access shipyard and shipboard work areas, including climbing ladders, navigating uneven surfaces, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 2550 lbs and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Work may occur indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions.
