Associate Dean of Residence Life, Housing & Student Wellbeing The Associate Dean of Residence Life, Housing and Student Wellbeing serves as the chief student housing officer providing leadership and visionary strategic planning. The inspirational leader ensures the department supports both University needs, academic mission, core values, and holistic student success and development within a thriving and dynamic living-learning residential program experience as well as provides leadership, direction and supervision to residential life, housing, Bulldogs CARE Center, Office of Community Standards, and wellbeing, health education outreach services staff and operations, inclusive of student Undergraduate, Greek Life, and Graduate and Family Housing. The Associate Dean will also partner with Woodbury Residence Life to ensure operational guidance, support, and systemwide integration. The thought partner is committed to inclusive excellence and builds collaborative partnerships with academic and non-academic departments to develop high quality and innovative residential student-focused co-curriculum and programs to reflect national best practices in residential education programs within liberal arts environments, anchoring student career and life skill development outcomes, and high impact practices. This includes partnerships with academic affairs via expansion of faculty and student engagement opportunities, and initiatives that support student success, wellbeing, development, retention, and engagement. The Associate Dean will provide supervisory oversight for professional staff members, graduate assistants, undergraduate student employees, undergraduate student leaders, along with staff training and development in support of the University's educational objectives. Reporting to the Dean of Students and Belonging, the Associate Dean leads the campuswide Student Wellbeing Collaborative, inclusive of academic, departmental, Redlands community, San Bernardino County, and other offices to collaboratively integrate student wellbeing, adaptive skill and socio-emotional development, resources and programming while fostering a culture of care in alignment with the nine dimensions of wellness. They will also lead the establishment of the inaugural Bulldogs CARE Center to advance the centralization of student support and connection to community resources. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Housing and Residence Life: Oversee Residence Life and Housing along with campuswide Student Wellbeing and Bulldogs Care Center initiatives and operations. This includes staffing and supervision, departmental budget management and oversight (including gift funding), marketing and program development, contract management, residential facilities, housing operations, policy development and implementation, relationship cultivation (internal and external partnerships), technology and assessment. Provide systemwide oversight, alignment, direction, and training for use of housing software. Leads related cross-campus departmental partnerships. Develop and implement a robust residential education co-curriculum program model with a focus on community belonging, meaningful student living-learning residential community experience, inclusive excellence, class-based Bulldog Pathways initiatives and programs integration, and skill development through high impact practices supporting student success in collaboration with campus partners. Enhance resident assistant high impact student leadership experience, inclusive of an academic course, integrating experiential learning and career development. Enhance residential student engagement through development of Residential Hall Association and support establishment of peer-based educational residential student conduct board. Expand partnership with Student Campus Life and Office of Inclusion and Community to bolster student engagement and community connection, including late-night and weekend programming (e.g. Hunsaker After Dark). Student Conduct Department Supervision: Provide area oversight for the Office of Community Standards, including operations, compliance (e.g. hazing, drug free schools and communities act), policy interpretation, development and education, educational student conduct and organizational investigatory and hearing procedures, case management through appellate and final decision, hearing board training and facilitation (including peer-based), and budgetary oversight. Supervise the Assistant Dean of Community Standards and Student Wellbeing who serves as the Chief Student Conduct Officer and supports Associate Dean with Student Wellbeing agenda, initiatives and programs. Serve as a member of the student conduct Dean's case review and management team for University and housing level incidents through participation in training and assisting in the student conduct process with investigations, hearings, restorative justice, and convening or assisting with Judicial Council. Serves as a campus administrative student conduct hearing officer as needed. Conduct the annual review of residential conduct housing policies and procedures, and assist with the annual Clery report, including serving as an integral partner in fulfilling required educational programmatic and related compliance support. Wellbeing and Wellness: Establish a campuswide agenda to advance health and wellbeing student-centered programming and resources that promote student development, health education outreach programs, retention and success. Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, by fostering environments that are open and accessible to all identities, races, and protected groups. Actively seek opportunities and build programming to expand and strengthen engagement with underrepresented student groups. Lead the campuswide Student Wellbeing Collaborative inclusive of academic, departmental, and other offices to collaboratively integrate curricular and co-curricular transformation through innovative multidisciplinary and intersectional student wellbeing education, initiatives, programs, resources, and informational materials Provide oversight, development and implementation of the Live Well Bulldogs educational model to enhance student wellbeing and foster peer-led wellbeing engagement. Lead establishment of inaugural Bulldogs Care Center, inclusive of case management student support, student emergency fund support, CARE Team data tracking and analysis, grant and gift funding opportunities, direct partnership to food pantry and career closet, and community resources partnership development, education and promotion to advance centering an ethos of community care, student success, persistence and retention. Develop and distribute resources and training opportunities for faculty and staff along with a resource guide for supporting student wellbeing across campuses. As an active member and Co-Chair of the CARE Team (as designated by the Dean of Students), provides individual and/or group follow-up guidance and support to students of concern related to emotional health and wellbeing (e.g. medical leave of absence, involuntary leave) in collaboration with the Counseling Center, Student Success Center, Academic Support and Accessibility, Academic Affairs, and the CARE Team. Provide leadership, as designated by the Dean of Students, in partnership with Bulldogs CARE Center staff, Assistant Dean of Community Standards and Student Wellbeing, Counseling Center, CARE Team, Chaplain, Dean of Students, Academic Affairs, and Student Success Center to support students and families with the process of navigating the Student Involuntary Leave/Withdrawal process, including coordinated care, case management, and student success planning for readiness to return. Provide shared oversight of the Bulldogs Food Pantry program housed in Residence Life, in partnership with the Assistant Dean of Student Experiential Learning & Sustainable Education. Supervision and Training: Provide supervision and training for professional, paraprofessional, graduate assistants, undergraduate student employees, undergraduate student leaders, and formulate individual performance and professional development goals aligned with the department's mission and strategic plan. Provides dotted line supervision to Woodbury Residence Life Coordinator. Meets regularly with direct reports to assess progress towards goals, key performance indicators, discuss professional growth and development, provide support and direction, promote teamwork and individual accountability, and acknowledge performance milestones and achievements. Provide training and coaching support to departmental staff in programming, emergency preparedness and response (including, but not limited to, Title IX related incidents), residential education and co-curriculum, leadership development, safety, student crisis intervention, and risk management. Administrative: Coordinate all on-call duty schedules and training regarding duties and responsibilities for professional, paraprofessional and student assistant staff. Perform on-call duty coverage on a rotating basis and respond to student crises and campus emergencies when necessary. Conduct annual review of on-call procedures and training. Manage referrals and student issues related to distress/crisis interventions and policy violations, following internal protocols and procedures. Serve as the designee for the Dean of Students in their absence and as necessary due to caseload. Represent the Division of Student Affairs as funds permit at regional and national meetings to maintain knowledge of best practices, support professional development, and strive to enhance student housing and wellbeing at the University. Serve as one of the leaders within the Division of Student Affairs responsible for the execution of a transformational student experience, student success initiatives and cultivating community in alignment with the institutional strategic plan. Develop assessment plan for residence life and student wellbeing, with an emphasis on programmatic evaluation to identify student retention, persistence and experience outcomes and identify strategies that will facilitate the creation and/or modification of effective, data-informed and impactful residential, health promotion and wellbeing initiatives. Conduct related evaluation and research as needed based on national emerging trends, issues, best practices, and/or systemic operational needs to enhance student success. Perform a variety of administrative duties, including providing semester reports, surveys, data analysis, and other requested documents to prioritize data-informed practices. Serve on divisional assessment committee. Participate in policy development and revision along with the creation of systems and procedures for implementation of new and ongoing policies. Serve on various Student Affairs and University committees, supports divisional and campuswide initiatives and programs, and serve in other capacities as assigned. Support the Dean
