Pediatric Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner Or Physician Assistant Seeking NP or PA to join our pediatric orthopedic team. This role will function at SLCH in both inpatient and ambulatory settings, Monday - Friday. Will treat pediatric trauma patients by assisting in daily rounds, coordination of care, discharge planning, etc. Outpatient duties include time in orthopedic trauma clinic as well as performing sedated reductions. Provides primary and/or specialty nursing and/or medical care in a variety of settings; works under physician oversight as required by state regulation and functions within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practitioner's specialty certification, Barnes-Jewish Hospital medical by-laws, and, where it exists, the collaborative practice agreement. Primary duties and responsibilities include: Providing direct patient care Billing for services covered by collaborative practice agreement Counseling and educating patients and their families Monitoring patient medical records Maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment Managing health conditions via prescriptive authority or referral Championing the safety and quality of care for patients using ITB therapy Serving as clinical expert regarding rehabilitation nursing Providing management services for clinical research study projects Working in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures Participating in quality improvement activities Enhancing professional growth and development Contributing to the advancement of the rehabilitation nursing profession Performing other duties as assigned Working conditions include: Normal office environment Exposure to blood-borne pathogens Exposure to chemicals Requires protective devices Dust, dirt, grease or other disagreeable elements Patient care setting Direct patient care setting Physical effort includes: Typically sitting at desk or table Typically standing or walking Typically bending, crouching, stooping Using tools requiring high dexterity Occasional lifting (25 lbs or less) Equipment includes: Office equipment Lab/research equipment Clinical/diagnostic equipment Required qualifications include: Master's degree Certifications/Professional licenses: Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, Basic Life Support - American Red Cross No specific work experience is required More about this job: We are seeking a dedicated NP or PA to join our team. Basic Life Support certification (Online Basic Life Support certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the Basic Life Support requirements). Required qualifications for Physician Assistant: Graduate of PA program. Current PA licensure to practice in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on location, or ability to obtain within three months of date of hire. Certain/additional certifications may be necessary based on area of specialty. Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).
