Then this Produce Buyer could be the right fit for you. Responsibilities: Provide guidance to the sales team regarding produce categories and merchandising strategies. Serve as the primary liaison with suppliers, negotiating pricing, product assortment, promotions, advertising, services, and ongoing support. Continuously assess and select the best sourcing options to secure optimal costs, high product quality, and reliable service. Purchase commodities directly from growers and in the open market, making selections based on customer needs, demand trends, and extensive product knowledge. Inspect and evaluate the quality of incoming products to ensure they meet established standards. Participate in daily warehouse walkthroughs to grade and assess agricultural commodities and determine product value and yield. Manage inventory count sheets for accuracy and maintain weekly availability guides to support store ordering processes. Oversee inventory levels, shrink, and service performance to meet or exceed company goals. Build, maintain, and strengthen productive relationships with suppliers. Communicate regularly and effectively with sales, warehouse, and transportation teams. Track market conditions, industry trends, food safety updates, technological changes, and weather impacts across all growing regions. Conduct sales and profitability analyses, manage pricing files, and perform competitive price checks. Actively identify and introduce new products or innovative items to customers. Travel as needed during seasonal periods. Uphold high product quality standards during the purchasing process. Secure promotional pricing and determine appropriate volumes to support additional promotional sales. Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Perform additional duties as assigned. Required Qualifications/Experience: Must always maintain the highest level of customer service. 5+ years of produce (mixed items) experience. Knowledge of organic items and processed items. Knowledge of USDA standards. Strong communication and relationship building skills as well as the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization. Proven ability to effectively negotiate and build strong partnerships with vendors. Ability to adapt to the ever-changing high volume while working in a cross-functional team environment. Solid proficiency in MS Office products with an emphasis in Outlook, Word and Excel. Benefits: Dental Insurance Life Insurance Medical Insurance Vision 401K. PTO Direct Hire Salary: $30/hr
