PURCHASING ASSISTANT

Purchasing Assistant works within the Purchasing department to provide support for the production and facilities team by processing purchasing documents and responding to related inquiries. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Place and track orders Review work orders for accuracy Assist with inventory management/cycle counts/physical inventory. Identify and research customer specific requirements. Identify and implement cost saving opportunities. Supplier development and improvement Work with Accounts Payable to ensure accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices. Maintain knowledge of market/industry trends. Work safely at all times. Required Skills and Qualifications 1-3 years previous experience in Sales/Administrative position Proficiency in Excel is required Minimum Associate Degree preferred Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment. Customer service skills are a must. Preferred Skills and Qualifications Successful applicant must complete a pre-employment drug test, background check, and serve a probation period through a temporary agency. Have a current Driver's License; Have good and reliable transportation. Working Conditions Candidate must be able to sit at a desk using a computer for long periods of time. Occasional work in a warehouse/production setting. Physical Requirements The ability to work with punctual attendance, Monday-Friday plus any additional hours/days necessary to meet business demands with hours flexible with advanced notice. This job requires "people" skills. A positive attitude and willingness to maintain a professional demeanor is essential to this position. Must possess excellent written, verbal, and telephone communication skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are a must.
