Job Title: Fleet and Facilities CoordinatorLocation: Mercer Island, WashingtonEmployment Type: Full-Time, Year-RoundFLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)Position OverviewNorthwest Yeshiva High School (NYHS) seeks a reliable, hands-on Fleet and Facilities Coordinator to oversee the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and safety of the schools campus facilities and van fleet. Reporting to the Head of Operations, this is a full-time, year-round position responsible for ensuring that school buildings, grounds, and transportation assets are well-maintained, operational, and compliant with applicable safety standards.The Fleet and Facilities Coordinator plays a critical operational role in supporting the academic program by providing a safe, functional, and welcoming physical environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, highly organized, responsive, and experienced in both facilities operations and vehicle coordination.Key ResponsibilitiesFacilities Operations and MaintenanceManage daily campus facilities operations, including classrooms, offices, common areas, and outdoor spaces.Perform routine inspections of buildings and grounds to identify maintenance needs, safety issues, and preventive repairs.Personally complete minor repairs and maintenance tasks, including basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, fixture repair, furniture assembly, and general upkeep.Coordinate, track, and respond to facilities work orders in a timely and professional manner.Obtain bids, coordinate scheduling, and oversee external contractors and vendors for larger repair projects, capital improvements, and specialized trades.Monitor contractor performance to ensure work is completed safely, on time, and within approved scope and budget.Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and equipment; recommend purchases as needed.Support campus setup and breakdown for school events, programs, and community activities.Ensure facilities comply with applicable health, safety, and fire regulations.Fleet Operations and Vehicle MaintenanceOversee the schools van fleet used for student transportation, programming, and school-related travel.Coordinate routine vehicle maintenance, inspections, registrations, and repairs.Maintain accurate vehicle maintenance records and service schedules.Identify mechanical issues and coordinate with service providers for timely resolution.Ensure vehicles are clean, safe, and ready for daily use.Support scheduling and logistics related to vehicle availability, as assigned.Administrative and Operational SupportMaintain organized records related to facilities maintenance, work orders, warranties, vendor contracts, and vehicle service.Assist with budget tracking related to facilities and fleet maintenance.Collaborate with school leadership, faculty, and staff to prioritize operational needs.Respond to urgent maintenance or safety issues during the school day as needed.Participate in emergency preparedness and response planning related to facilities and campus safety.Qualifications and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training or certifications preferred.Minimum of 35 years of experience in facilities maintenance, building operations, fleet coordination, or a related field.Demonstrated ability to perform minor repairs and hands-on maintenance across multiple trades.Mechanically inclined with practical experience coordinating vehicle maintenance and upkeep.Experience soliciting bids, managing contractors, and overseeing repair projects.Familiarity with work order systems and maintenance tracking processes.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality.Valid Washington State drivers license with a clean driving record.Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.Physical and Work RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 pounds.Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and perform manual tasks regularly.Availability to work occasional evenings or weekends for events or urgent needs.Year-round position, including summer months, to support ongoing maintenance and project work.Preferred AttributesExperience working in a school, nonprofit, or similar community-based environment.Familiarity with private school operations and expectations.Strong commitment to professionalism, safety, and service.Ability to work respectfully within a close-knit school community.BenefitsMedical- Employee premium paid by the school, optional coverage for dependentsDental Optional Employee paidVision Employee premium paid by the school, optional coverage for dependentsFlexible Spending Account403B with School ContributionEmployee Access PlanGenerous time off programCompensation$25 - $30 Per Hour DOEAbout Northwest Yeshiva High SchoolNorthwest Yeshiva High School is a private Jewish high school located on Mercer Island, Washington.
