Job Description Are you a hands-on problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced, high-pressure manufacturing environment? Our client, a leading manufacturer in the Greater Grand Rapids, MI area, is seeking multiple Maintenance Technicians to join their growing team on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts. This is a direct hire opportunity with a stable company offering full benefits and long-term growth potential. This role is ideal for skilled technicians who take pride in keeping critical systems running. You'll be working under the guidance of the Maintenance Manager, performing preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, rebuilds, and supporting various plant projects. Beyond just fixing things, you'll be a mentor and role model-sharing knowledge with other team members and ensuring equipment meets the highest industry standards, including USDA, HACCP, and GMP. Responsibilities: Execute preventative maintenance on production equipment with precision and urgency. Respond to equipment downtime with professionalism, speed, and safety as top priorities. Troubleshoot electrical systems, PLCs, and VFDs to resolve production issues quickly. Perform TIG welding on stainless steel components to food-grade standards. Manage parts inventory, order replacements, and track usage within budget guidelines. Lead and complete assigned projects from start to finish, including contractor oversight. Collaborate with Refrigeration Specialists and participate in HAZMAT-related activities. Provide hands-on coaching and training to junior technicians, setting the standard for excellence. Job Requirements Qualifications: Journeyman-level experience or accredited certification in machine repair. Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in industrial equipment maintenance. Proficient in electrical troubleshooting, including PLC and VFD systems. TIG welding expertise-especially stainless steel to food-grade standards. Comfortable working in cold, wet, and physically demanding environments. Strong verbal and written communication skills; basic computer proficiency. Must be able to wear required PPE (eye protection, ear plugs, hard hat, etc.). Physical Requirements: Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights up to 17 feet. Frequent twisting, bending, climbing, and lifting. Comfortable working in slippery, uneven, and cold environments for extended shifts. Must be physically capable of extended maintenance tasks (up to 10-12 hours/day).
