Digital Manufacturing Software Engineer Location: Remote (travel to Newport News, VA 12 times per month, 23 days per visit), must reside in Texas or willing to relocate to Texas within 2 weeks of offer-no relocation offered. Type: Contract Travel: Up to 2 visits/month (recently averaging 1) Active Security Clearance required Overview: We are seeking a Digital Manufacturing Software Engineer to build modern, highly customized applications on the Ignition platform supporting complex discrete manufacturing operations at a heavy industrial defense contractor. Key Responsibilities Design and develop industrial web applications using Ignition Perspective Extend platform functionality using JavaScript, CSS, Python, SQL, and REST APIs Build scalable, modular application architectures Integrate with enterprise and industrial systems (SQL, SAP, SharePoint, AD, OPC, historians) Translate manufacturing workflows into digital solutions Optimize data models for real-time operational use Implement logging, error handling, and performance best practices Produce technical documentation and architecture diagrams Required Skills Strong HTML5, CSS, JavaScript Proficiency in Python scripting Solid SQL and relational database experience Experience integrating systems via REST APIs Ability to design maintainable, reusable application architectures Experience working in manufacturing, industrial, or operational environments
