Position Details Position Information Position Title Adjunct Criminal Justice Instructor FLSA Exempt Contract Length N/A Class Summary College of the Mainland is seeking adjunct Criminal Justice Faculty members to assist the expansion of the Criminal Justice Associate of Arts degree program. This position is for online and in person instruction. Position Type Adjunct Employment Status Part Time Position Funding Regular Minimum Education/Training/Experience Master's degree in Criminal Justice OR Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in a qualifying field OR Law degree with 18 graduate hours related to criminal justice Minimum qualifications must be met to be considered for credentialing Preferred Education/Training/Experience Ph.D. in Criminal Justice At least seven (7) years of professional experience in the field of criminal justice to include: law enforcement, probation, corrections, courts, etc. Certifications, if any, must be in good standing, if applicable, in your specific area of expertise. Experience in teaching/advising/mentoring high school and/or college-level students with broad, diverse backgrounds is also desired. Possess a comprehensive knowledge of current instructional techniques and technology and knowledge and experience in teaching. Knowledge of Desire to Learn/Brightspace or other LMS systems is desirable. Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communications and people skills. Minimum Knowledge & SkillsInnovative Teaching: Skilled practice in creating high quality teaching and learning. Proficient in continuously enhancing teaching processes through technology. Continuous improvement of curriculum, course delivery, and andragogy. Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Desire2Learn/Brightspace LMS. Or other LMS experience Strong technology skills in using email, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software. Commitment to Education: Demonstrated commitment to community college mission. Strong dedication to quality teaching, student success, and completion. Academic Expertise: In-depth knowledge of college's academic and instructional functions. Team Collaboration: Effective team player with a customer service focus. Ability to establish positive working relationships with students, colleagues, and the public. Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to define problems, collect data, and present information effectively. Adaptability and Confidentiality: Ability to grasp concepts quickly and handle sensitive, confidential data. Thrives in a fast-paced, customer-service-oriented, and diverse working environment. Preferred Knowledge & Skills Strong background in teaching courses that lead to student success. Job Duties Teaching Excellence: Demonstrate mastery in Criminal Justice through effective content delivery, utilizing both pedagogy and andragogy methodologies. Curriculum Enhancement: Design and deliver undergraduate courses in Criminal Justice, aligning with departmental objectives. Integrate innovative teaching methods for diverse learning formats (face-to-face, hybrid, online). Communication: Effectively communicate with students through various channels - email, phone, online discussion boards, and face-to-face, as appropriate.
