Senior IT Engineer

Senior IT Engineer to play a key role on our IT Team in the design, deployment, maintenance, and security of our infrastructure. This position requires a hands-on technical expertise with deep experience across Azure AD, Intune, Active Directory, Exchange, virtualization platforms such as Proxmox, and enterprise networking.  The ideal candidate is a problem-solver who can operate independently, mentor junior staff, and help modernize and secure IT systems while supporting business operations.  Requirements Minimum Requirements but not limited to: This position requires US Citizenship 8+ years hands-on experience across: Azure AD, Intune, Active Directory, Exchange, virtualization platforms such as Proxmox, and enterprise networking. . Excellent Problem solving abilities Can operate independently, Mentor junior staff, and help modernize and secure IT systems while supporting business operations.  Key Responsibilities but not limited to:: Systems & Identity Management  Administer and maintain Azure Active Directory (Entra ID), including user lifecycle management, Conditional Access, MFA, and role-based access control (RBAC).  Manage on-prem Active Directory, including Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and hybrid AD configurations.  Administer Microsoft Intune for device management (Windows, macOS, mobile), including compliance policies, configuration profiles, and application deployment.  Manage Exchange Online / Exchange hybrid environments, including mail flow, security, retention, and troubleshooting.  Infrastructure & Virtualization  Design, deploy, and maintain virtualization environments, including Proxmox VE (VMs, LXC containers, backups, clustering, storage).  Manage storage solutions (local, SAN/NAS, ZFS, backups, snapshots, replication).  Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability; proactively resolve issues.  Networking  Configure and support enterprise networking environments, including:  Switching and routing (VLANs, trunking, STP)  Firewalls and VPNs (site-to-site and remote access)  Network security best practices  Troubleshoot complex network connectivity and performance issues.  Security & Compliance  Implement and maintain security best practices across endpoints, servers, and identity platforms.  Support compliance initiatives (e.g., CMMC, SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar).  Manage patching, vulnerability remediation, endpoint protection, and logging.  Participate in incident response and root cause analysis.  End-User & Operational Support  Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues.  Maintain the ticketing system and work issues as they arrive within SLA.  Create and maintain documentation for systems, procedures, and configurations.  Assist with training and support for end users.  ·         Work closely with vendors and security consultants as needed.  Required Qualifications  8+ years of hands-on experience in a senior IT or systems engineering role.  Strong experience with:  Azure AD / Entra ID  Microsoft Intune  Active Directory (on-prem and hybrid)  Exchange / Exchange Online  Experience with virtualization platforms (Proxmox strongly preferred; VMware/Hyper-V acceptable).  Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, firewalls, VPNs, and DNS.  Strong troubleshooting skills across systems, networking, and identity.  Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.  Preferred Qualifications  Experience with:  Proxmox clustering, ZFS, and backup strategies  Linux server administration (Debian/Ubuntu preferred)  Scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python)  Endpoint security and MDM hardening  Familiarity with compliance frameworks (CMMC, NIST, SOC 2, ISO).  Microsoft certifications (Azure, M365, Security) or equivalent experience.  Experience modernizing legacy environments or migrating to cloud services.  Soft Skills & Attributes  Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.  Detail-oriented with a strong documentation mindset.  Security-first mentality.  Calm and effective under pressure.  Desire to continuously learn and improve systems.  Benefits Medical Dental/ Vision 401K A2e Does NOT Accept Unsolicited Resumes or Referrals from any source other than the candidate, and, as a result, we will not be considering any unsolicited referrals or resumes sent to us as a fee -based candidate submittal.  Any unsolicited resumes sent to A2e, including unsolicited resumes sent to a A2e mailing address, fax machine or email address, directly to A2e employees, or to A2e’s resume database will be considered A2e property.  A2e will NOT pay a fee for any placement resulting from the receipt of an unsolicited resume.
