Revision Date: 11/25/2013 Department: Manufacturing Reports To: Manager, Assembly JOB SUMMARY: Assembles a variety of dies reading and interpreting blueprints; troubleshoots as needed. Develops solutions to a variety of complex problems. Regularly operates and troubleshoots the most complex machines. PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES include: • Performs assembly work from blueprints, specifications and other written and/or verbal instructions. • Reads and interprets blueprints to set up and operate all types of dies. • Uses full range of precision measuring and other common machine tools to complete tasks. • Runs air tests. • Records readings from indicators. • Works within all safety standards and uses safety equipment at all times. Additional responsibilities and duties may be assigned. Minimal requirements for education, knowledge and experience: Education High School diploma or GED required; Advanced 2-year technical degree in auto mechanics or journeyman machinist preferred. Experience Tool & Die background and/or mechanical and/or machinist background preferred. Other Knowledge of geometry and trigonometry Skill in using geometric tolerancing Solid ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications Ability to produce precision work Ability to use a variety of machine shop tools Ability to run air tests Ability to work safely Strong mechanical aptitude Solid critical thinking skills Advanced mathematical skills Ability to work with minimal supervision This position requires the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities in the following environment: • Ability to stand long periods of time • Ability to lift and carry 40-50 lbs on a regular basis • Visual acuity to read directions and prints and to inspect machined parts closely to ensure they meet specifications. • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate machinery for precision work. • Work schedule generally consists of 40 hours per week, which may include on-call status, evenings, and/or weekends.
