Job Description: U.S. Pipe and Foundry is seeking a 2nd shift Crane Operator in Bessemer, Alabama. The successful candidate will play a key role in assisting with the production process in the casting area. Essential Functions: Must be able to perform all production jobs in the casting Area. Responsible for keeping head cores supplied to casting machines. Pulls pigs from pig pots and dumps outside shop. Responsible for maintaining pre-determined quantities of silicon, calcium, and other materials in blower tanks. Mixes blacking to pre-determined standards. Must be able to operate the Hot Pipe Crane including all of the following: Transfers pipe from casting machine scale rails to oven entrance rails in a timely manner. Removes pipe to be annealed from the side rails or to rails leading to outside of building. Appropriately disposing of scrap pipe. Completes crane inspection report. Assists in repairs and maintenance in the event of a breakdown. Practices good housekeeping in work areas (including crane cab when operating crane). Does other work as assigned by supervisor. Skills & Other Requirements: Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods. Must be able to climb steps and ladders Must be able to bend and stoop repeatedly Must be able to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull objects and materials weighing 50 pounds and occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull objects and materials weighing more than 50 pounds. Must be able to manually roll pipe on rails.
