Together with our permanent staff, we work on projects that bring together communities of practice committed to addressing shared challenges. Our work attends to the impact of local context through studies of implementation interventions drawing on partnership-based research methods. Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is essential to achieving our mission. The Role MenloEDU has grown to the point where our accounting needs are more complex, and we require a part-time Controller to oversee the operations of the Accounting department in partnership with our fractional CFO. This role manages our part-time Bookkeeper and the accounting functions managed by other staff, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, bank reconciliations, and financial analysis. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the financial health and compliance of MenloEDUs research initiatives. We anticipate 10-15 hours per month to start, and are open to working with consultants or employees. Responsibilities Oversee all of the companys accounting practices Direct financial strategy, planning and forecasts in partnership with the fractional CFO Manage deferred revenue, grants/contracts accounting, project profitability, and project cash burn rates Create, coordinate, and evaluate the financial programs and supporting information systems of the company to include budgeting, tax planning, internal control, and conservation of assets Approve and coordinate changes and improvements in automated financial and management information systems for the company Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements Oversee the approval and processing of revenue, expenditure, and position control documents, department budgets, ledger, and account maintenance and data entry Coordinate the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and information reports Maintain and develop finance, accounting, billing, and auditing procedures and safeguards Work with CEO and fractional CFO, providing consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations Ensure records systems are maintained in accordance with accounting principles and auditing standards Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions Manage all staff on the Accounting team Qualifications 3+ years of Controller experience overseeing a companys entire Accounting function Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Engineering field required; MBA, CPA, or CMA preferred Advanced proficiency in Excel and QuickBooks Collaborative and communicative, with the ability to provide the meanings behind the numbers and track where information originated Experience with a grants-funded organization; we are a for-profit organization that is entirely grants-funded, so a background in non-profits would translate well recblid 3ku9mflm4p02ffc9ps2gl5zo41fnfm
