Northrop Grumman is seeking a talented individual to assist with engineering projects for spacecraft flight operations of the NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory. The selected intern will work side-by-side with Northrop subsystem engineers at the Chandra Operations Control Center in Burlington, MA. Work may include mechanisms analysis, satellite performance analysis using computational problem-solving, and localized engineering tool development using Python and/or MATLAB software languages. The position requires strong technical communication, as the role will involve close collaboration with subject matter experts (SMEs). This job requires being on location at the Operations Control Center (OCC) in Burlington, MA. Basic Qualifications: A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must: Be enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university AND graduating after August 2026. Be majoring in a STEM Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2026 Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays in support of on-orbit operations is required Preferred Qualifications: Minimum overall GPA of 3.7 Prior internship or research experience in related field - Proficiency in Microsoft office suite Ability to read and interpret scripted languages (e.g. PERL, Python, STOL) is preferred, but not required Intern Pay Range: Bachelor's: $25.75 to $31.75 per hour Master's: $37.25 to $39.00 per hour The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date. However, this timeline may be shortened or extended depending on business needs and the availability of qualified candidates.
