This role is a contributing member of our Airlite - Omaha team, located in Omaha, NE. As a Business Development Specialist you are a key to continued growth and success of Airlite. The Business Development Specialist is the first point of contact for new business opportunities generated through marketing and targeted outreach efforts. This role is responsible for engaging inbound leads, conducting discovery conversations to assess fit and readiness, and qualifying opportunities before transitioning them to the outside sales team. This position plays a critical role in the sales pipeline by ensuring that only well-qualified, sales-ready opportunities are handed off, enabling the outside sales team to focus on closing and customer engagement. Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities (Other Duties As Assigned): Lead Engagement & Qualification Engage primarily with inbound marketing-generated leads and conduct timely outreach to initiate contact. Perform structured discovery conversations to understand customer needs, application requirements, project timelines, decision-making authority, and budget considerations. Assess lead readiness and overall fit against established qualification criteria. Accurately document qualification details, call notes, and next steps in the company's CRM system. Sales Handoff & Appointment Setting Schedule high-quality introductory meetings and product discussions for the outside sales team. Provide comprehensive and well-documented handoff notes to ensure sales representatives are prepared for each engagement. Ensure a smooth and professional transition of qualified opportunities from marketing to sales. Collaboration & Process Support Partner closely with marketing and outside sales to ensure alignment on lead quality, messaging, and qualification standards. Provide feedback to marketing on lead trends, common objections, and qualification outcomes. Support continuous improvement of lead qualification processes and handoff standards. Performance & Activity Management Meet or exceed established activity and performance expectations, including speed to first contact, qualified lead conversion, and appointments set. Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM records reflecting all outreach activity and lead status changes. Do you have what it takes? Successful candidates for the role will possess the following: Supervisory Responsibilities This role does not have personnel supervisory responsibilities; however, this role includes working with cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization. Education / Experience / Certifications A bachelor's degree is preferred, particularly in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field Minimum two (2) years of experience in an inside sales, sales development, or sales service role is required. Previous experience in the construction industry is required. Experience working with a CRM system and comfortable with data entry, logging activities, and managing lead pipelines within a CRM. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required Proven experience in sales development, inside sales, or telemarketing role, with a strong emphasis on cold calling and lead qualification. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly over the phone. Demonstrated ability to listen actively, ask insightful questions, and handle objections effectively. Capability to solve complex problems, utilizing strong critical thinking and decision-making skills. Superior organizational skills and the ability to assemble resources needed to orchestrate multiple projects/activities and accomplish goals. Model a collaborative leadership style with the ability to build partnerships and influence others into action. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Outstanding presentation and facilitation skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and consultative approach; tactful in dealing with people at all levels. Strong sense of urgency, self-motivated and positive. Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations. Ability to actively lead change initiatives. Display highest ethical standards. Maintain the utmost level of confidentiality in dealing with sensitive information. Detail oriented, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Physical Demands & Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hand dexterity to operate office equipment including computer keyboards; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the office work environment is typically quiet; when visiting the production floor the noise level may be loud.
