Job Overview: Search Solution Group is seeking an Environmental Engineer on behalf of our client, an engineering and manufacturing company located in Greenville, South Carolina. This role is responsible for ensuring environmental compliance across multiple facilities by managing regulatory programs, supporting audits, and implementing proactive environmental strategies. The Environmental Engineer will serve as a key liaison between facilities and regulatory agencies while driving continuous improvement in environmental performance and risk reduction. Key Responsibilities:Environmental Compliance & Engineering Serve as the primary regulatory contact with federal, state, and local environmental agencies for inspections, permitting, reporting, and compliance communications Manage environmental regulatory programs including: Air permitting (construction and operating permits) Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) programs Tier II chemical inventory reporting Hazardous and universal waste management Waste minimization and recycling initiatives Conduct environmental assessments at plant locations; document findings, trends, and improvement opportunities Review regulations, permits, and agency guidance to ensure ongoing compliance Prepare and submit environmental reports, monitoring results, and permit renewals Oversee stormwater sampling, analyze data, and implement corrective actions Provide engineering recommendations to reduce environmental risks and prevent violations Perform basic Industrial Hygiene (IH) sampling (air monitoring, noise measurements) as needed to support overall EHS compliance Program Development & Support Develop, maintain, and update environmental plans, programs, and technical documentation Create tools, procedures, and training materials to enhance facility-level execution Conduct root-cause investigations of environmental incidents and recommend system-level improvements Support Corporate Safety leadership during environmental audits and inspections Coordinate with external consultants, laboratories, and regulatory agencies as needed Oversight & Field Engagement Provide on-site guidance during inspections, sampling events, spills, or abnormal environmental conditions Coach facility teams on environmental compliance expectations and best practices Verify proper labeling, storage, and handling of chemicals and waste materials Administrative Responsibilities Review environmental service invoices and forward approved invoices to Accounting Maintain environmental records, sampling data, logbooks, and regulatory documentation Track corrective actions and ensure timely resolution Requirements include:Education: Bachelor's degree required (Engineering, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field) Master's degree in Industrial Hygiene or other science-related field preferred Experience: 3-5 years of relevant environmental compliance and/or engineering experience Skills: Strong knowledge of environmental regulations (EPA, state agencies, local ordinances) Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) Experience with environmental monitoring methods and equipment Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills Ability to interpret regulations and translate requirements into practical plant-level actions Certifications: CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) designation preferred Knowledge: Air permitting and emissions compliance Stormwater and wastewater management programs Hazardous waste and chemical inventory reporting Environmental auditing and corrective action processes Basic Industrial Hygiene sampling practices Key Competencies: Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to build positive working relationships across multiple facilities Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis abilities High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Adaptability to changing schedules, tasks, and regulatory requirements Demonstrates consistent safe-working behaviors and environmental stewardship Ability to work independently while collaborating cross-functionally How to Apply: To apply for this position, please click the "Apply" button at the top right of your screen.
