Bad Debt Manager This is a full-time, hybrid (3 days a week on-site) position at any of our US office locations. Northbrook or Chicago is preferred. Proactively manages portfolio of bad debt cases utilizing Salesforce workflow software. Communication with internal teams (Legal, Operations, Sales, Accounting, Cash Application, Customer Service, etc.) on problem resolution. Knowledge of bankruptcy handling (Chapter 7 & 11) is preferred. Ensure policies and procedures are followed in accordance with SOX controls. Partners with collection agencies and attorneys to coordinate best practices in the pursuit of outstanding debt. Provide guidance to Sales teams on bad debt requirements to reinstate customers once bad debts are paid in full. Responsible for the coordination and withdrawal of files and multiple listings. Performs special projects and other duties as directed. Reconciliations of UL invoices pre and post-bankruptcy filing. Update and change customer profiles and credit limit status through Oracle software. Works with management to determine transaction effectiveness, metrics, and track performance to bring about improvements in processes. Works with Accounts Payable to process vendor payments. Prepare reporting for other UL team members. Performs special projects and other duties as directed. Creation of purchase orders for third party collection agencies. Manage bad debt recoveries with internal stakeholders. Qualifications: Some University (equivalent to a US Associates' degree) in Accounting or related field and generally, four years of collections, credit, billing experience. Knowledge in Accounting and Financial systems with internal controls. High degree of competency in MS office Suite, specifically Excel. Good communication skills both written and verbal, problem solving, analytical ability, critical thinking and performing root cause analysis. Works independently in a fast-paced environment. Requires good organizational skills. Experience communicating with internal and external customers in a customer to cash environment.
