Job Title: Weld Engineer FSLA Status: Non-Exempt Schedule: Monday-Friday Job Purpose: Oversee and optimize all welding operations within the manufacturing process, ensuring high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective welding solutions that meet production standards and customer specifications. This role works closely with cross-functional teams to develop, implement, and refine welding procedures, troubleshoot welding-related issues, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. The Weld Engineer will also play a key role in supporting new product development by providing technical expertise in welding process design and feasibility to ensure seamless integration of new products into manufacturing. Duties and Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and optimize welding procedures to attain cycle time improvement and production efficiency gains. Troubleshoot and resolve welding-related issues in the production environment. Collaborate with design and engineering teams to support new product development, providing technical expertise in welding process design and feasibility. Evaluate and recommend new welding technologies, equipment, and techniques to improve efficiency and product quality. Conduct welder training and certification programs to maintain consistent welding quality across the team. Perform root cause analysis on welding defects and recommend corrective actions. Monitor and maintain welding equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime. Ensure compliance with industry standards and company-specific quality control procedures. Assist with the preparation of cost estimates and timeframes for welding-related tasks during new product introductions or process changes. Ensure welding operations meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards. Oversee and optimize robotic welding operations, ensuring consistent, high-quality welds and minimal downtime. Program, troubleshoot, and maintain robotic welding systems, collaborating with automation engineers to integrate them into production lines and new product designs. Monitor robotic welding performance, analyze data to identify areas for improvement, and ensure equipment is properly maintained. Oversee Weld-Techs to ensure customer specific requirements are being met. Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree in weld engineering preferred Capable of reading product drawings and prints. Working knowledge of GD & T, tolerance stack analysis, gage design and check fixture follow-up activities including Gage R& R's. Strong experience with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Effective communication and organization skills PLC knowledge is preferred Must be able to work independently and prioritize tasks Multi-tasking with keen attention to detail and accuracy Must be able to lift to 40lbs on occasion Manipulate medium to large objects, materials, or tools on occasion Physical environment/working conditions: The position is in the factory and could involve sitting, standing, walking, and lifting for long periods of time throughout the day.
