Tribal Security Guard The Jamul Indian Village of California strives to provide a greater quality of life for its people. Providing education opportunities, healthcare, and sufficient housing today will open the doors of tomorrow for the people of Jamul Indian Village of California. In performance of their respective tasks and duties all employees of Jamul Indian Village ("Jamul") are expected to conform to the following: Uphold all principles of confidentiality to the fullest extent. Interact in an honest, trustworthy, and respectful manner with Jamul Tribal Members and officials, other employees, visitors and vendors. Comply with Jamul's policies and procedures. Display respect and understanding of Jamul's culture, traditions, and values. Maintain a current and valid driver's license and must be insurable. The Tribal Security Guard shall provide culturally appropriate, courteous and professional public safety services to all that are on Jamul's Reservation and other properties. The Tribal Security Guards works closely with the Tribal Council, Tribal Employees, and Tribal Members including their guests and visitors. The Tribal Security Guard shall provide patrol and security work with respect to all applicable Tribal Ordinances, and Federal and State of California Laws as required. The Tribal Security Guard shall always conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner while upholding Jamul's integrity and level of ethical standards. Essential duties, functions, and responsibilities include: Provide protection to all persons, buildings and assets of Jamul. Investigate complaints received and assigned. Respond to accidents and render first aid services. Assist and maintain positive professional relations with other security and law enforcement agencies. Complete and submit all required paperwork in a timely manner. Check all interior and exterior perimeters for unusual activity that may indicate illegal entry or activity. Provide attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Attend trainings as recommended by the Chairperson or their designee. Travel to attend trainings. Keep Certificates and Licenses current. Any other duties, functions, or responsibilities assigned by the Chairperson or their designee. Minimum mandatory qualifications include: Education: High School Diploma from an Accredited Institution. Experience: At least 2 years of experience as a Security Guard and/or an equivalent amount of experience and education. Certificates and Licenses: Security Guard Certificate, BSIS Gun/Weapons Permit. Work environment: Tribal Security Guards work in and around facilities both indoors and outdoors on Jamul property, in all types of weather conditions. The employee may work in and around a casino setting, which can involve exposure to loud noises, bright or flashing lights, crowded public areas, and continuous foot traffic. The employee may be exposed to tobacco smoke. The employee may also be assigned to other tribal properties that are undeveloped or minimally developed. These locations may be without paved roads and may be dimly lit. Terrain may be uneven, rocky, muddy, or overgrown. Physical demands: Must be in good general health with no impairments to performing the duties of the Tribal Security Guard. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, reach or feel and manipulate objects or controls. The employee is frequently required to sit or stand for long periods and walk distances, as well as stoop, bend, kneel and crouch. The employee is occasionally required to react effectively to emergency situations. Position may require employee to be able to lift and push heavy objects as well as being able to physically transfer, lift and assist patients with their needs as well as restrain persons when required. Jamul is a federally-recognized Indian Tribe and, in accordance with Jamul's human resources policies, has implemented a Tribal and Indian Preference in Employment Policy. Pursuant to this Policy, applicants who meet the minimum qualifications for this position and who are enrolled Citizens of the Jamul Indian Village will be given primary preference in hiring and employment for this position. Members of other federally-recognized Indian tribes will be given secondary preference. Aside from employment preference as provided in this section, Jamul shall not discriminate because of race, creed, age, sex, color, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, marital status, medical disability or political affiliation. Confidentiality: All employees must uphold all principles of confidentiality to the fullest extent. This position has access to sensitive information and a breach of these principles will be grounds for immediate termination. Background investigation: This position may be subject to a criminal history background check, a suitability background check and/or a Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) check. In addition, some positions are subject to a 101-630 background check in an effort to ensure compliance with Public Law 101-630 "Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act." Candidates must be able to successfully pass all required background checks to qualify for this position. Drug screening: All applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening prior to beginning employment and will be subject to reasonable-suspicion drug testing.
