THE COMPANY Toebe Construction is a Wixom, Michigan based heavy civil contractor specializing in Bridgework, Concrete Paving, and Excavation/Underground work. THE POSITION The Concrete Paving Inspector - Quality Control plays a critical role in supporting Toebe's concrete paving operations by ensuring all work is performed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and Toebe's Quality Control (QC) Plans. The Concrete Paving Inspector serves as a key link between production and quality control, helping to ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality paving operations. This position works closely with paving supervision, plant personnel, QC testing firms, and project management to monitor daily operations, document compliance, and promptly identify and communicate any deficiencies. This is a highly field-focused role that requires regular presence in active outdoor construction environments and functions best within a collaborative, fast-paced team setting. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Monitor and support Toebe's concrete paving operations to ensure work is performed in accordance with approved QC plans and project requirements Perform regular field observations and inspections to verify compliance and promptly communicate any issues to project leadership Complete required inspection reports, daily documentation, and production records in an accurate and timely manner Coordinate with third-party QC testing firms to ensure required testing is performed and results are communicated to appropriate project personnel Assist with tracking production quantities and maintaining accurate as-built documentation Support paving equipment setup and inspection activities as needed to ensure quality and performance expectations are met EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & ABILITIES At least 2 years of prior experience in heavy civil construction, quality control, inspection, or materials testing; concrete paving or roadway construction experience is strongly preferred General understanding of concrete materials, placement methods, and QC or inspection processes Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and project documentation Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately document field observations and production information Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate with field crews, testing personnel, and project staff Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a collaborative project team Proficient in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office and construction-related reporting tools Comfortable working outdoors and in active field environments, including the ability to work variable schedules and extended or non-standard work hours as required by construction operations Must be willing to demonstrate an absolute commitment to Toebe's values of Integrity, Safety, Team, and Trust.
